The challenge continues! (to challenge us). If you're mad about snacking late at night, in particular on chips, popcorn and M&Ms, join us in the struggle to defeat this habit and change it to: "No more late night snacking!" Take either dinner or a cut-off time to be the last time you eat for the day, after which tea and water only drinker. Then stick to it! and most importantly, stick to us, so that you get over slip-offs. Be certain that you can do it!

Here's to August and us fighting this (and winning) together.

This will be a monthly thread so join at ANY time, with each of individually tallying at the end of the month. Don't give up. One night of non-success does not scrap you for the week or the month. Make a goal, and if you overcoming one extra night a month of success, then you are a winner!

My goal for the month is to be successful 24 out of 31 days.

    So far:

    ME 1/SNACKS 0

Tonight? 9 p.m. is my cut off as I know I won't be able to eat dinner until 8 p.m. but then nothing after dinner!
  • not to be a spoilsport but i need to snack in the evening. i really struggle to sleep if i am too hungry. i eat dinner at around six. to me, the key is not not snacking, but not snacking on the wrong foods. and that goes for snacks anytime of the day. for me, i find snacking absolutely essential for hunger control. i eat at least three healthy snacks a day.

Well, ya know Jason, you would fit in this challenge. Most people that set a cut off time make it 2 hrs before bed. And if you're really hungry then they, as you also suggested, eat something healthy. That all counts as a win. And nice job on the weight loss. :drinker:

August is starting well. Did ok last night since we were fairly busy at work. And I'm determined for another point tonight. Best to you all for the month of August. :flowerforyou:

    Well, I am 2 ME/0 SNACKS

I even finished by 8:30, which I might make my new cutoff time, going back 15 minutes from my last week goal of 8:45. Even had a blondie brownie for dessert, but after 3 bites I gave put it away because I was stuffed.

So tonight, cutoff is 8:30. Going to reset my watch alarm now.

Rosemary - Great job. Your dedication and successes are encouraging, especially given your work schedule. You can do it!

Dew - How are you doing?

Dew - How are you doing?

Starting late, but here I am . I'll leave 10 as a cut-off, since sometimes it's impossible to grab food before that.

Jason, how about no more snacking after snacking?. You can set a cut off time as most of us do, or just say no more bad snacking, if you prefer

Rosemary and Lorna, nice to see you.

    Here's to August :drinker:

Ooh, I really need to join this! I love, love, love me some popcorn late at night, but last night was more like a popcorn binge and I was rewarded with a stomach ache. :frown:

    So far me0/snacks2, boo. But I'll get better! I'm setting 8pm as a cut-off.

    3 ME/0 snacks

I was a little past my cutoff time, but I am going to count it no my side as I had no control over when dinner was served, and I deliberately did not snack or munch on anything BEFORE or AFTER and simply just ate a healthy dinner.

Akivi - Welcome. Hope it's going better against the popcorn for ya. :drinker: Maybe one of those 100 cal mini bags would be enough.

I'm 2 and the snacks are 1 :grumble: ........Hoping tonight goes better

Dew - you are always a success in my book. :flowerforyou:

Lula - I like your reasonable approach. :flowerforyou:

So far so good. Dinner was a quick downing of a peanut butter and honey on whole wheat bread last night before running out the door. But I stayed the course and didn't eat anything afterward. Instead of buying half gallon ice creams, I bought individually wrapped ice cream sandwiches so that I don't have to dish any out for the kids and they can just grab their own. Last night, I was thankful that was the case. Out of sight, out of ....well not out of mind. But out of mouth ;)

I wanna join!! I have a huge problem eating before bed. I work overnight, and I am sleeping by 830, so I guess a 630 cut off.

I want in too, i work mids and afternoons so i guess my goal is 3 hours before i go to bed. That way my time can change depending on what shift i am working or if i am off that day. Is that ok?

This is truly one of those cases where "the more the merrier". Do what works for you to help you reach your goal. We all have different schedules and priorities. But take what YOUR personal weakness is and tweak it. Make it reasonable. If you find that 2 hours before bed is difficult. Start with one hour this week, and then decrease it by 15 minutes each week until you get comfortable. I need to do that sometimes to reset when I get on a bad streak. Success is doable!

It seems that I can't do this challenge until mid August, at least. In spite of having a bite later than I wanted, I am loosing weight. While aiming at maintaining, really. So I might have a peek in here, but not commit myself to thing until I can do it :).

Good luck, everyone! Stay strong :flowerforyou:

I am in, as Lulabelle said, there's a support group for everything. Cut off for me will be 8 pm or right after dinner if it's a late night. If I haven't eaten by 10, I just won't. Goal for August, starting on 8/9/10: 20 out of 23 days. That leaves room for late date nights
