Before my mom passed she would every now and again throw a zinger my way. She never swore at least around me, but when things got tough as a young man and I had to make a decision she would say, " Well son, it's time to S**T or get off the pot!" Truly a woman ahead of her time!

Before I headed off to college....

"Study hard, but most of all have fun and enjoy yourself."

I never wanted to let her down after that.

    "I love you."

It seems simple, but for most of my life, I didn't have anybody who looked out for me, protected me, or truly loved me like my mom. She's still my #1 best friend.

Not my mom, but my 100 year old grandmother told me "Never tell a man what he can and can't do. Just make sure he understands that you can do whatever he does ten times worst. He wants a night off with his friends? That's fine. You go to Vegas for a week with yours."

"Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." Some might think it's a little negative but it helped to make me strong & resilient.

No man is worth your tears, only your dad, and even then use them sparingly.

tears always work with my dad, even now lol

My mom says she's off to see the wizard when going to the gym

Also everytime my grandma said sheets it sounded funny. Put clean $hits on the bed, take the $hits out of the dryer

When I was up against a problem and wanted to quit my mum would say 'get your back up against it'. When I was a child I hated that saying, but she was right. Just get on with it and the sooner it is done the better. It has stood me in good stead for all my life
