So I started to comment on the board when I realized how much I am committed to do this. Just curious about the rest of you
I got the following....new shoes (old ones killed my feet), measuring cup, new weights for dumbells, new water bottle with ounce detector on side, timer.

I guess I knew I was really serious when waking up at 5am didn't bother me any more, since I new how working out in the morning would make me feel throughout the day. Ever since then, it hasn't really felt like a chore, just part of my routine.0

My friend offered creamer for my coffee and I turned her down. She looked at me and said, "Wow, you are serious!" That was as actualization for me. I AM serious about my health now.0

I've added a rider (horseback) fitness weight program, a zumba dvd set, a shaun t dvd set and a home gym (still waiting on the room to get finished so I can build it).0 -
Food Scales, Heart Rate Monitor.........and now since I have started lifting I may consider some protein powder to up my levels. I have had maybe one protein shake in my life (and didn't like it so actually if anyone has any good tasting powders to recommend I would be grateful! I am in Ontario).0

1. Bought a food scale for cooking and use it
2. Stop mindless eating
3. Start personal training sessions once a week and following that routine twice more before the next session.
4. Start enjoying using a barbell at the gym.
etc, etc, etc.

When my boyfriend said "I can't figure out what's going on with you. I think it's either you're really addicted to working out, or you're screwing someone else". :laugh: Neither. I actually hate every second of working out, but I do it anyway.
Just the fact that I've been working out daily for 3 months.
When I bought a weight bench, barbell and weights.
When I turned down alcohol because I hadn't worked out yet and knew it would screw up my workout!0 -
Food scale, exercise DVDE, dumbbells. Already had the treadmill and elliptical machine....just starting using them instead of hanging coats on them.0

I knew I was really serious when I bought a food scale, and when I had logged for 90 consecutive days I bought a Heart Rate Monitor (which has changed my life!).
Then I started buying "real" workout clothes (the moisture wicking kind, LOVE THEM) and I started keeping a calendar of my workout days including what I did, how long, and how many calories.
I buy alot more veggies now and I buy egg whites!! Who knew they were so delicious?!
Now I set a monthly goal of total calories burned through exercise and reward myself if I meet my goal at the end of the month.
Today is my 145th day and I feel amazing!! Good luck to all on their journeys! xo0 -
I knew when I actually went out and bought a scale, never owned one before. I also got myself a bike, water-filter bottle, food scale, workout clothes and contact lenses lol0

There was never really A moment for me, but I felt like something had changed after the first month of walking up the 6 flights of stairs to my condo instead of taking the elevator.0

I knew it was going to STAY serious when I switched out sugar for stevia, got a nano (for the music and the fitness monitor)! Best of luck to you, YOU CAN DO THIS!0

I got really serious when I heard a boy from my son's school make fun of him for how fat his mom is. Kids are mean and cruel at times and I REFUSE to allow my son to get bullied because I got lazy over the last 10 years and gained over 100 pounds.
I have since then joined Kickboxing, renewed my gym membership and bought a kick *kitten* new scale that I am actually looking forward to getting on every morning.0 -
When I bought a HRM - that was acceptance that I wanted to do this to the best of my ability. The moment I signed up for the gym was crucial too.
Spending my money on fitness products (shoes, clothing et al) is the norm now - much more constructive that wine and food! I am saving up for a mountain bike....!0 -
When the family orders Pizza and or Chicken and you politefully but regretfully decline.0

Instead of saying "Five more minutes on Facebook and then I'll work out..." I am now logging off facebook 1/2 hour earlier and dedicating the rest of my pre-work time to exercising. Yes...I'm actually getting my butt off facebook in order to work out. Now *that* is dedication, lol!0

Probably when I joined the gym and committed to going every work day during lunch. Of course I guess I realized I was serious when I stuck to it and impulsively started checking calories before I could put anything in my mouth. Then when I started not wanting to eat bad foods because I knew it would unravel all my hard work I knew I could do this!0

I've kept my room clean for over a year, just so I have a place to work out. My room used to be the place that I stashed all the stuff my husband buys to use "someday," and all the stuff that I didn't know where to put it, and that mess would attract more mess (like dirty clothes, and stuff that goes in the desk I couldn't reach because of the mess...) I still have a little bit of a pile behind a chair, but the whole area that my rug covers has been kept clean and clear since February 2012, so I always have a place to jump rope or do kettlebells.0

****When you get back from the gym and you unpacked your work clothes from your gym bag and immediately pack your gym bag back up for the next day.
***** When you knew you were going to be away from your gym for two long weeks so you downloaded youtube videos, created a schedule, and brought your dumbbells from home so you could work out there.
*****Your clothes become looser and looser and people start noticing you are losing weight.
******You start going down sizes.
****You tell your fitness class instructor that you are going to enjoy the two weeks with out exercise as you will be away from the gym and they immediately pick up on the fact that you are not serious.0 -
For me-
When I began to really look forward to spending my afternoon sweating. If I don't- I feel out of place.
And- I don't always have to log my meals/workouts, since I know the path and the destination are one in the same.0 -

Did you make that power rack yourself? If so - how much did it cost, how hard was it and did you have to tie it into the foor boards above?
I dunno when I realized I was serious - probably after buying a ton of pro style dumbells online.0 -
Brought the yoga mat and dumbbells. Set long term goals, spending time researching nutrition and fitness though these forums and google.0

When I was super excited about my brand new food scale. It looks like a mini butcher's block. xD I love it so much.0

When I got two food scales- one for home, one portable one for work... and meals out, since it fits in my pocket. And that I don't usually eat anything until it's been weighed. I also weigh portion-controlled items sometimes (like bars) because I'm curious if the printed info is accurate.
When I started buying/drinking protein shake mix, and buying/eating protein bars.
When I stopped buying Special K bars, snacks, etc. What I thought was a great substitute before now seems likes somewhat empty carbs, and I can do better than 10g of protein for that many calories.
When I realized that most days, the candy-like or krispy-treat-like protein snacks aren't really candy, but good enough.0 -
Walking past the Friday 'treats' in the main office without feeling tempted, because none of them is worth the calories.
Buying a food scale, using it for everything, and realizing that I was seriously considering taking it with me when I was packing for a holiday. (I didn't.)
Going to the grocery store planning to buy potato chips and dip and then walking up and down the aisle, unable to do it...which recorded a few extra steps on my fitbit, which is the best thing I added!
An acceptance of my competitive nature--finding an acceptable outlet for it on the fitbit friend leaderboard.0 -

Heart Rate Monitor and a Yoga mat (and actually started taking classes instead of DVD's) I always thought Yoga was lame until I took a class and it kicked my *kitten*0
