    Everyone keeps saying "Buy a Clown costume" but would THEY really be okay with it. Hell, I know I wouldn't especially if meeting my parents for the first time. She needs to separate her clown costume from real life. It takes 10 minutes to change and remove the face makeup.

    As a professional balloon sculptor, I DESPISE clowns. They can't sculpt and think they are sooooo funny. Seriously, they make me want to hit something.

    I can't tell if you're serious or not but if so:

    While I think you should be confident enough to be fine with her work attire (get-up), it's not appropriate for many situations (i.e. meeting your parents). There's nothing wrong with being a clown, or a waitress, or a stripper, or whatever you are/want to be, but that doesn't mean you wear Shenanigans suspenders and flair, or nipple tassles, or clown hair/makeup/shoes out to dinner.

    I married a clown. He actually became a clown well after we were married. It doesn't get any better. There are always traces of white makeup in his ears. He is always trying to be funny, and it's not. He has been to many bbq's and holiday meals in full clown. I don't think it bugs anyone else as much as it bugs me. But...I love him more than life itself so I deal with it. I hope your girl is worth it!
