Hi pals,
For the past 4 weeks, I have been struggling with a back injury that I got while doing pelvic twist planks:( I visited the back specialist this week and was told to stop all exercises that involve twisting, bending, or flexing of my lower back. This pretty much took away everything that I have been doing up to this point. My primary source of exercise has been Turbo Jam and Zumba, but now my doctor is only allowing walking for the next two weeks. I bought the Leslie Sansone 5 Day walk plan and tried it out last night. I really liked it because, unlike my turbo jam and zumba, it did not hurt my back, but it still gave me a decent calorie burn.
I am looking for other walkers at this time because I can't believe that I will lose from just walking so I need to see some results or here some stories to help me through this tough time. If you have had success with this DVD series or if you have had success with walking alone, PLEASE share your story... I tend to feel like I need a high impact workout to see results so I am trying to wrap my head around these low impact walks.
Thanks in advance and please add me if you think we can support each other through our journeys:)

I absolutely love them!! If it hadn't been for her DVD's, I may have never started to exercise. Great for beginners!! The workouts are low impact and simple, but effective. You can start with the 20 minute workout and work your way up to the hour long ones.0

There is a Leslie Sansone group - join us! This specific topic is in there. 50 pounds lost doing Leslie (although I do other stuff now, too). Plus keeping up with your healthy eating habits. You can do it!0

The 18lbs I have lost to date has been with walking as my only exercise.0

I never do high impact workouts, I watch my calories and walk, most of the walking is done with LS walking dvd's (normally her 2mile or 5 mile ones off of youtube) and then walking around the dog park while my dogs play. I'm down 36.5 pounds after 12 weeks.0

I actually just started using her dvd on Wednesday..I love it! I did the 1 mile one since I am a beginner and was out of breath just doing it but it felt good, my back didn't hurt. So that is what I have been using for my cardio. I actually have the Express one as well as the 5 mile one.0

Good for you!!! I started yesterday with the 3 mile but since I am in week 6 of my journey I was ready for more! I have been doing a lot of high impact work outs so I felt like I wasn't working hard enough...But I have to say, my HRM stayed in zone the entire workout:)0

I lost my 1st 40lbs with Leslie Sansone.
It was something i enjoyed, was slightly challenged and saw results. Oh yeah and it was easy! I didn't feel like i was constantly trying to catch up.

My mom bought m the LS walking video about a year ago...I guess I wasn't ready to start then. Now that I am on track I was thinking I should check it out. Do you just walk in place, or what? I guess I'll just pop it in & see what it's all about! I'll check back in after...0

I have heard of the LS walking DVDs but ... um in all honestly why do you need a DVD? Why don't you just go outside and walk down the street to a park and walk there? or find a trail to walk. Is there something special about the DVD?
not trying to be a **** but I just don't see why you NEED a DVD for walking.0 -
I have quite a few of her tapes. They are a lot of fun and not too stressful. Since I have a bad knee and am working to gain strength, walking tapes are great. You do kicks, side steps, arm movements, etc... so you aren't just standing in one place. I highly recommend Leslie Sansone tapes!0

Never heard of walking dvd's!
These are basically low impact - no choreography aerobics DVDs ....They go like this ....... you walk in place (for awhile) .... you do side steps (for awhile) .... you do knee lifts (for awhile) ...etc. After the warm-up you add some arm movements. Here's a sample:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjduJjO1pLg&feature=related
These are great because they are so adaptable. Add some light handweights, add a weighted vest, throw in some plyo (high impact) moves .....ie: jog when Leslie walks. Add a mini-trampoline & do all "high impact" .... but in a low impact way.
These can be beginner .... thru intermediate (with modifications)...... Not advanced though.
These DVDs are excuse proof ..... I can do them anytime, and (almost) anywhere.0 -
The LS DVD's are great! You can put as much effort into them as you feel like, so they can be a really good workout. Be careful with your form on the kicks, I have had a sore back after doing the dvd a couple times. As long as I don't kick too high I'm ok. My cousin lost 70 pounds doing nothing but LS videos, so YOU CAN DO IT!!0

YES - the DVDs are special (to me) ..... I'm a klutz ..... I can't do "regular" aerobics videos..... I've tried ... I just feel like a dunce.
These are a nice change of pace (from walking outside) ......it's not just walking in place ..... knee lifts, kicks, kick backs..... arm movements (with weights) ...... It's not better .... just different. I like both.
They are also ..... excuse proof ..... I live in the midwest ..... it's too cold, it's snowing, it's raining, it's dark outside (my neighborhood is crappy).... whatever .....NO EXCUSES left.0 -
I loved them! I used them after I had my gallbladder surgery a few weeks ago and was told I couldn't lift weights or workout so I used the youtube videos of her 3 mile and 4 mile so atleast I felt like I was doing something! She's got an awesome personality and I found myself actually breaking into a sweat, which really surprised me!0
