amzberry: you look absolutely wonderful. your b4 pic reminds me of how i look now. since i have 2 babies i have what they call an apron/fat pad, etc. that i can't get toned for nothing. do you have any tips on how you got flat abs and what types of foods you at ate and stayed away from?

Hi :) I lost the weight on stupidly low calories, that with what I know now, was not really necessary. I began with lots of walking, running and hip hop abs plus zumba. So lots of cardio. These days tho I do very minimal cardio and lots of heavy lifting. This is because my goals have changed thru natural progression. For weight loss cardio is key. I just went HARDOUT no excuses and did everything fast and hard. They say abs are made in the kitchen, so really watch sugar intake. I didnt cut anything out altogether tho because I knew if I didnt it wouldn't last and id binge. Portion control and wiser choices is key. Now that I lift heavy I struggle to eat as many calories as I should, but do try to at least fill them with good fats and good choices. Females, unfortunately, store fat on hips, back of arms and stomach naturally because of our hormones, so any changes we are able to make at all, we should be super proud of :)

    Way to go!!!!

    Hi,

I would like to know how you achieved your goal. I am on Day #2 of the insanity workout and I was wondering if you can give me any advice... I am trying to drop 20 lbs by August 15th because I am going to Las Vegas in August with a group of cousins.

I started out with just clean diet and watching my intake. it was an issue at first because I didnt know HOW to diet. All I knew was "eat less" which is a HUGE mistake.

You actually need to eat in specific ranges for your body / activity level. After a few bouts of starvation mode and gaining everything back, i finally decided to do research into my body and found out about starvation mode and microlevels, proteins and fat stores. Finding out how to get rid of fatstores, HITT training and the afterburn effect were the most beneficial.

After I got down a considerable amount, I started insanity. I am about to start month 2 and I am seeing huge differences. The photo below, the last 2 are between me starting insanity and 2 weeks ago.

    me_cropped_zpsee1cb45e.jpg

I have a whole stack of Insanity DVDs on my desk here and have not done it yet. I did do the first DVD that tests where you are at to start with. I'll get to it someday. I have done P90X (only 45 days in). I do bits and pieces of that. I'm thinking of going back to Insanity for a bit for the cardio instead of my usual elliptical.

    Congrats on your results!

Insanity is nice, I did two rounds back to back and it really did amazing things for my fitness. I used to ****ing hate running but thanks to insanity I can now go out at night for 20 minutes and get a good burn in without dying. Really good way to get some of those excess calories off.

  • Hi, I just wanted to ask what your macros are right now...I'm at the level of skinny right now, but need to get the muscle definition to look strong. I do kettlebell, bootcamp, weights, and run about 2 miles, per week. I'm watching my carbs (between 50-90 g per day). I heard it's those carbs that you need to cut out in order to get the muscle definition. Of course I'm eating healthy (veggies, no junk, etc.). I just started doing this about 2 weeks ago and wanted to know how long it took you to get the muscle definition.....THX

if you are asking me, MFP has me at 55% Carb, 30% Fat 15% protein and eating 1946 cals per day. I never usually get to that many, i can reach my micros and eat around 1600 per day. Hope that helps!

It can be a real eye opener looking at old photos. I was a bit depressed during this time in my life (first photo). I thought that I would be happy when I reached my goal, looking at this photo, I would like to lose 15 more.
