Really, all throughout the day. I get 500 cals from breakfast, around 400-500 at dinner, but I tend to eat around 500 cals in snacks throughout the day as well...

    Definitely lunch or dinner.

My brother, who is a former athlete and in great shape, was just telling me the other day that I should eat my heaviest meal at breakfast. He said he does that, and that's the best way to go, to help jumpstart your day and fuel your morning workout. But...I'm just not feeling it for a few reasons: lack of time (to really make a reasonably healthy large breakfast), I'm not a huge breakfast person anyway (and whenever I tend to think of it, I think more of sweet foods, and I know it's not good to have too many sweets when you're trying to get in shape), and I'd selfishly just really like to save more of my calories for my other two major preferred meals of the day -- lunch and dinner. And, I must admit..I know this isn't a good habit, but I really enjoy being able to look forward to larger meals later in the day, rather than having the largest be first, and then it's like, what more do ya have to look forward to for later? I know that's probably silly and ignorant, but...honest ;)

Not silly or ignorant!! I completely understand!! LOL Fave question in my household of 6 is "what's for dinner?" Never what's for breakfast. Except Sundays when we cook a big breakfast before church. Doesn't stop the dinner question!!

I try to eat all day, but my biggest is definitely dinner. Usually I save up calories so I can have a big dinner and maybe a little dessert.

Does it matter when you consume your calories? Like, does it actually impair/inhibit weight loss if you're consuming the majority at a certain time? I always thought that the "late night eating=weight gain" thing was a myth.

Lunch- I get in the habit of running errands at lunch and grabbing a bite to eat with drive thru. I've only recently started counting calories and really scrutinizing menu options if I do this. NO FRIES NO SODA! Lunch is about to become shakes, soup, tuna packets, or yogurt. I'm leaving dinner as my biggest meal simply because I have time to cook. I exercise at night, though. Keeping it clean and simple.

It is a toss up between lunch or dinner - I tend to plan my meals out the day before :o)

Dinner for me. I do a bit of carb back-loading, so dinner is usually about 40% of my daily calories. I train fasted in the morning and then have about 30% of my daily calories post-workout, spreading the other 30% between lunch and an afternoon snack.

Breakfast -- it fuels my day! I eat a lot of whole grains for breakfast and then work in my protein during snack times (I often snack between meals unless I'm not doing any cardio or working out (which I have yet to get back to).

My biggest meal is dinner. It is logged in my diary as "lunch" because of my third shift schedule, but it's really dinner, lol.

Meal timing is a myth and so is that whole "you must eat big breakfasts and tiny dinners" thing. I prefer dinner food (which is when I have steaks, pasta, etc.) so I make that one the biggest. I would rather have more of the food I enjoy most.

Dinner. Sometimes I have a bigger lunch but between working out and just being active on the weekends, I tend to be very hungry at dinnertime.

It's typically dinner time when I consume the most. I find that if I have a fulfilling dinner I don't want to snack later into the evening (which is a hard time for me.) What ever works best for each person I guess! :)

I have most of my calories for dinner, and after dinner snacks. I either skip breakfast, or have a very light one, then a slightly bigger meal for lunch, and the rest in the evening.

completely agree! I hate that I have to "snack" after dinner so I know if I have a larger dinner I'm not as likely to snack.

Me too, I like breakfast but it's not something I take super pleasure in. My husband says that dinner should be my lightest meal. I love dinner it's my favorite meal of the day. What tends to happen is I go crazy on the portions. I also work late and I hate eating dinner at work it's not pleasant. However I have to find a way to make the change. I typically eat small breakfast meals and lunch meals to save calories for dinner but I need help with that. Thanks for sharing. I almost need a Jillian standing over me telling me 1 helping is enough geesh. Tedious battle but I am going to win.

Definitely dinner. I've found that a good dinner around 6 pm keeps me sated for the rest of the evening.
  • Breakfast is usually between 5-600 cals. I try to go down from there but sometimes dinner ends up at about the same cal intake. I notice without fail if I skimp on breakfast I have a crappy food day. I wake up and fuel up cause life could throw me any number of curves and I have to be ready!

Dinner. Like most people say, it's because I have the most time to prepare it. I eat a small breakfast at work, medium lunch, maybe a couple of snacks (piece of fruit/some nuts) in the morning or afternoon, then basically finish the day with dinner and possibly dessert.
  • My 5 meals are all pretty average in calories. Breakfast Snack Lunch Snack Dinner. But my Breakfast and First Snack are closer together. So definitely my morning is higher calories.
