Odd question- anyway to sub the pineapple for something else? I like the idea of this cake, but I don't like pineapple.

i would bet you could sub canned peaches or pears. even mandarin oranges maybe? I'd just crush/mash the fruit with a fork or potato masher before adding it to the cake mix.

I made this over the week-end - only I didn't frost the entire thing with the cool whip, we just scooped some on top.

I cut my 9x13 cake into 18 squares, and with my boxed cake mix and pineapple brands here are the nutrition details per square:

    Calories: 29
    Carbs: 7
    Fat: 0
    Protein: 0
    Sodium: 23

It was no nice and light...a perfect summer dessert. This will become a staple in my cooking rotation for sure!

This sounds good, and easy to substitute regular cool whip for the low fat one, since those things are a no-no according to my husband. Usually the cals differences are not so bad so it's worth it to have it.

I love how you just throw a whole can of pineapples in there. That's awesome. And I love strawberries. I would love to see a picture of this if you can do that or at least provide the link someone else can make it go up.
