How long did it take you to lose your first 10 lbs?

Curious to hear of everyone's successes and rate at which you lost your initial 10lbs (or more!) as I feel like my weight loss is fairly slow... I average about 2400 burned calories a day, with no exercise included - just a normal day at work. I've been eating approximately 1600-1700 calories a day (hoping for 1.5ish loss a week) and haven't really seen great changes. My exercise is weight training 2-3 days a week and 3-4 days of the week walking/jogging intervals for a minimum of 2 miles.
For those who had a slower/stubborn start, did you change anything more to your initial changes to kick it into higher gear? Or did you stay with your new changes long enough to see the weight start dropping?

4 months so far and not there yet! MFP is set to 0.5lbs a week for me so I'm hoping soon i'll reach 10lbs lost0

It took me 3 months to lose the first 15 lbs.
Those are also pounds that I had put on fairly quickly (in 5 months).0 -
About a year, but I didn't have much to lose and did it through slow changes - 142lbs to 132lbs. I wasn't trying hard, though, so take my numbers with a grain of salt.0

i lost my first 10lbs very quickly, it was 7lbs the first week and 5lbs the next0

I've lost 15lbs since March 2013 following the 5:2 diet, which is the easiest and most effective diet plan I've ever used (I'm 63 and I've tried all sorts over the years).0

It's taken me 6 weeks to lose 11lbs/. That was execersing 4 times a week (mostly walking and high intentisty interval training). Burning an average of 2000 calroies a week and eating an average of 1400 calories a day. Have just had to re-jig my calorie goal becaus eif my weight differnce.
I thought it would be a lot harder for me to lose that much (I'm not overweight) but logging all my exercise and food intake has been the key and it hasn't felt hard at all! Roughly another 8lbs to go but I think that will take abit longer now i'm a little smaller.0 -
Mine is going fairly quick also, but I think the bigger you start out, the more you lose in the beginning. I am taking in 1270 calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week, and have lost almost 7 pounds in a week and a half. :flowerforyou:0

If you haven't been dieting before joining then you could drop it pretty quick.
It would be mostly water weight , once that s gone it will slow down.0 -
I set MFP for 1 lb per week and I am loosing at about that rate.0

It took me two months, it has definitely slowed down since then!0

About 6 weeks for the first 5 kg. I started around 95 kg, and down to 90 now (goal is around 65). I've hovered there for a week or two, but I'm showing big changes on my measurements, so happy to keep doing what I'm doing.
Most days I eat close enough to 1200 cal plus about 70% of exercise, allowing for analogue scales and volume measurements. I'm not micro-managing my intake, but I do try to stay close on protein, sodium and fat levels, and mostly trying to stick with fruit and veg for sugar.
I do a combo of walking and c25k 4-5 times a week, and at the moment 1 circuit session per week. I'm about to introduce 2 weight sessions as well.
Happy with my start, so if I can keep this going I'll be ecstatic! All the best to you.0 -
This is really encouraging, speaking as a relative newbie... the first time I tried to drop weight I did it the wrong way. Eating tiny amounts of really bad food and doinf half hearted cardio each morning. It wasn't sustainable and I felt awful but the weight started dropping off pretty quickly until I inevitably gave up and regained it all.
However this time around being a lil more sensible I'm seing the weight loss is a lot slower... I've been steadily losing just over 1lb a week so it's so good to see that this is normal and not ridiculously slow which is sometimes how I feel when I step on the scale.
On the plus side, I'm never hungry. I sleep well. I'm less cranky and the weight is still coming off, just more slowly than I'd thought it would!!0 -
crikey about 9 months!!! VERY SLOW!!!! for me but not massively overweigth....good luck!0
-
A month, I started at 178 lbs to 166 lbs after a month, now I'm losing slowly, about 5 per month.0

I lost my first 11 Ibs in 50 days. I don't have so much to lose, but i am happy with my progress!0

ForEVER...I needed to lose a total of between 20 and 30 lbs (still 10-20 to go), so it's not like there was a *ton* to lose, but still a significant amount. It literally took weeks of careful eating and exercise before I saw *any* weight loss at all...but it seems that my body eventually normalized and now it's coming off at regular intervals of a 1-2 lbs per week.
So apparently weightloss is like the tortoise and the hare story, heh.0 -
6 days, but I was hella big.0

I lost my first 10 pounds in my first 3 weeks0

I lost 10 lbs within the first 3 weeks. About to start week 4 and i am down 13lbs. A lot is due to hyper-activity. I am working out at least 3-4 times a week and am trying to cut out as much processed food as possible.0
