Why are so many members of MFP offended by sarcasm?
How can you improve yourself, if you're not willing to laugh at yourself a little?

I cannot WAIT to see the responses to this.

I dn't have a sarcastic bone in my body. I post serious replies all the time. I'm just so warped, everyone takes them to be sarcastic!

People get all sensitive about stuff all the time. Me - I like a good dose of sarcasm.

On another note - I LOVE LOVE Dean Winchester (aka Jensen Ackles). Thank you for making my day by posting this.

Dean Winchester is the king of sarcasm for sure!

Well it's still fun and games. Just not for both parties.

Reading that, I feel the same way I felt the first time I saw two women making-out... Confused, yet definitively turned-on.

I told my friends on here that I would lick this mixture off of Gary Busey's body, even without a bag over his head. It's that damn good. This should definitely be used during sex.

Have no use for it in cyber or more importantly, real life. Here's yer sign:

    Definition of sarcasm
    1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
    2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms.
Origin: 1570–80; < Late Latin sarcasmus < Greek sarkasmós, derivative of sarkázein to rend (flesh), sneer; see sarco-

    Synonyms
    1. sardonic, bitterness, ridicule.

Yeah, dat's da ticket. Have a groovy day :drinker:

When face to face - body language and emotions can set the pace for sarcasm, humor, criticism etc --sometimes on paper it is too much or too harsh and is frequently misconstrued as mean...What's in your wallet???
  • Agreed. Something gets lost in translation, when being sarcastic via text message.

I am gonna be the educator - ha - I am so gonna get some *kitten* for this but... how can you tell a person is being sarcastic online when you can't hear his/her tone in writing - the reader receives the message written according to mood, therefore it is all in perspective of the reader himself.

^THIS....no matter how you the writer meant it, me the reader, and you the reader and them the readers will take it differently.
