I'm 5'3"/f/36 and I'm doing low carb to get from my CW of 186.6 to GW of 130. I plan to track calories too, and have set my percentages to 65% fat, 25% protein, and 10% carb. Looking for some friends along the way!0

Hey folks! I'm 22, 5'6". Looking to lose about 80#.
I'm not currently eating low carb, but as soon as I use up the rest of my veggie burgers & Greek yogurt, I am going to start doing a ketogenic/Atkins type low carb plan. So that'll probably be around the beginning of next week. In the meantime, please feel free to add me! I have an open diary.0 -

Hey! I have been low carb AND flour free for about 6 months now. I do have about 3 cheat days a month where I will have pizza or a burger and fries (my fav!!!) but other than that, I stick to Ezekiel bread and lean meat and veggies, fruits, shakeology, protein drinks, quest bars, and greek yogurt most days. I feel better and I am not as bloated.0

I have been thinking of going low-carb for the past few weeks and decided to do it. Please feel free to add me, I would love ideas for low carb meals and snacks. I did Atkins years ago - is everyone going that low?0

Hi! I'm new to MFP and have lost 45lbs so far following a low carb life style. I joined mfp a couple of days ago for support, ideas and more accountability. I added you.0

Hi, New to MFP and did low-carb (Atkins) in the past. I lost weight and felt great but didn't stay with it. Now doing the 'new' Atkins and learning some great recipes. Want to lose about 50-55 pounds.0

Hey, I'm 6'5 387 pounds (starting weight 448) and I started a keto diet 3 months ago. It's working great! I'm staying around 20g of carbs a day and combining that with some intermittent fasting. I'm loosing from 3-6 pounds a week (usually closer to 6). I found that canned salmon is great for some quick protein. It has a great ratio of fat to protein and its super easy to just open a can an put it on a salad. I have also been eating some home made tabbouleh. I just omit the bulgar wheat.0

Hi all! I have PCOS & Insulin Resistance and am following a low carb (>65g)/high (cleaner) fat/mod protein (1g per LBM) eating style. I also incorporate intermittent fasting (16/8) and I eat to BMR + some exercise calories if I'm hungry & I exercise daily. This isn't really a diet for me so much as a necessity, but I have my off days, and my really on days. I'm not religious about eating clean, but I do the best that I can. I'm pretty much just a normal chick who gained weight trying to eat low fat, low cal not realizing that the carbs were MY particular enemy.
ETA: I lost nearly 50 pounds doing this 2 years ago, and then thought "I got this" and I didn't "got this". I stopped logging and working out as frequentlyBut! I know what works, and I have the right focus now. Just wanted to encourage everyone, that this lifestyle does work when all the others haven't for me.

I have been doing Atkins like diet for a little over a month. I am also watching calories generally stay between 1400-1600 and I don't eat back the exercise calories. I am cooking alot of fish, grilled chicken, and some steak/ground sirloin too. Lots of grilled veggies with a little olive oil, onions, squash, zucchini, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, green salads, EGGS, cheese (3 servings a day limit). I use my toaster oven or the grill to cook alot of my food as my family isn't eating the same way. I travel for work too, so I have used the Atikins products, shakes (Mocha is yummy) and bars (not daily, only when traveling). When I eat out, even fast food, I order what I want and just say "no bun" and they give you a fork and Knife! I use alot of garlic for seasoning and Mrs' Dash (in addition to salt and pepper). I miss sandwiches, and I make really good egg salad and chicken salad, so I found whole wheat tortillas that are low carb (5 grams net) and use those 2-3 times a week to have a "sandwich" filled with protein, lettuce, tomato, avocado, onion, or whatever. For breakfast, I usually have 2 eggs, canadian bacon occas. Feel free to check my diary. I am hardly ever hungry. I am drinking 8-10 8 oz glasses of water a day too (with mio drops or crystal light). I have cut my coke zero intake down, used to drink 6-7 a day, now only 2-3....refuse to give up my pop totally! I also eat fruit, apples, some grapes, pears (high in carbs), oranges....Those days my carbs might be higher, but it's natural fructose which doesn't spike insulin. I also eat almonds for a great protein snack to curb hunger between meals. The key is to eat every 3 hours, even if it's a small snack. Good luck!0

I do low carb! And my diary is open. Feel free to add me too!0
-
I also take a multi vitamin and B12 1000mcg daily, (and echinacia), don't know if this is helping, but I haven't gotten sick in a good while! I highly recommend a multi vitamin. Water, water, water, and move the body! I bought a bike and a membership at the local YMCA, so 3-5 times a week I exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes, and go to hotel fitness centers, and pools when traveling...0

Bump..just for curiosity's sake.0

Hi everyone !
Six years ago I hit my all-time high of 195 lbs ...... after seeing an awful photo of myself, I decided to take charge ...... began to follow a South Beach way of eating & got down to 150 pounds, which I've maintained by continuing to eat that way (more protein, veg & fruit .... less carby stuff). And I also hit the gym 4-5 days a week, mostly for cardio, plus an occasional Zumba or yoga class.
My ultimate goal is 140 pounds ..... am trying to eat "cleaner" and up the exercise ...... it's all good !
Anyone can friend me .... good luck to all :drinker:0 -
I low carbed for a while. There are some tasty low car recipes on my blog if you're interested. The scotch eggs and the jalapeno fudge. YUM.
