For the advice givers!

It is common to see new MFP members asking for advice with calorie deficits/goals, exercise programs etc
I propose that people maybe put a little more effort into their responses than "Eat more", "Hope you enjoy losing muscle", "this works for me" etc
Maybe something a little more helpful like these links...
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/975025-in-place-of-a-road-map-short-n-sweet
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html
Or if you are competent enough, offer to do their numbers for them don't just throw an imaginary number at them or one that is working for you, unless the person has the exact same stats as you they are irrelevant.
Also responses that are heavy in terminology may not help as once again they maybe new and things like TDEE and BMR as well as Anabolic/Catabolic would mean little to them.
I know people tend to reply with the best of intentions but we know where the best of intentions can lead someone.
Finally just wanted to say there are obviously individuals who are not receptive to advice and you get your occasional lame troll effort, but in the end it is best to hand someone the tools to help themselves or if you have a solid understanding of the science maybe show them the way.
The MFP community is a very supportive community but lets try to keep the Broscience to a minimum.

I aggree, I think sometimes all the veterans forget that new people actually don't know and just because a forum topic has been beaten to death it is probably still a new concept to someone else. I try to give the advice that I would've wanted starting out and if the topic gets out of hand just don't go back to it.0

More often then not it tends to be the newer members who are all to eager to offer vague answers or Broscience based upon a little information/experience they have gathered from losing in their first month or so on MFP.
I am sure the veterans have RSI from facepalming when they read yet another 500-600cals a day post, but generally they are pretty helpful and a wealth of information.
I forgot to mention the "Eat, Train, Progress." Group, very helpful and well versed in fitness.0 -

Came for the snark.
But pretty much agree, OP. I kinda like all the "starvation mode" answers I see in the forums though. Keeps it light . . .0 -
I agree that people generally have good intentions, but simply regurgitating blanket misinformed statements doesn't help anyone.0

In a perfect world people will do their own research and come to intelligent conclusions without the help of others but I can't see it happening soon so I decided to post a few suggestions to deal with the current situation as it stands.
But yes it would be nice.0 -

You're awesome. And this is a solid, and respectful, reminder for people on the forums.0 -

You're just too damn cool!0 -
Anyone on this site can search the internet. Folks are asking for personal experiences. When we can provide links- great. When we can provide caring, even better. Many are looking for hope and encouragement, not science.0

This.
I've only been around a very short time I can definitely see why people start responding with "eat more," "get a food scale," and "track your calories". The questions are so repetitive. Not just to very old threads, but the same questions being asked multiple times a day. Maybe you could just start pointing people to the stickied threads, but they need to be cleaned up. I doubt they're getting read because you have to wade through 50 posts of "bump" to get to the actual topic.0 -
