What's wrong with Josh Freeze, Biil Stevenson, Topper Headon...? All good.0

OMG, yes! Alex Van Halen is also out of the original list for me thanks to you!0 -
I think Charlie Watts is pretty underrated, but a very solid drummer.
I notice he is so underrated, nobody has mentioned him yet.0 -
Dave Lombardo from Slayer!0

Neil Peart

I am not a drummer so I don't really feel qualified to comment on the quality of a drummer. To be honest I can only tell you if a song sounds good or not but I can't tell the difference between the subtle nuances of one drummer of a another.
I have seen a lot of drum solos and the most entertaining and the best sounding of those have been that guy from the foo fighters and the guy from blink182.
Travis Barker. I saw him play with the Aqua Bats as a kid. Holy crap that man was amazing
I didn't know about him at all until blink182 but I did see him live and it was absolutely amazing. I have no idea how much work he had to put in to get to that level but he was moving like lighting and it sounded just phenomenal.
EDIT: I wonder how many calories a drummer burns when the put on a solo at that level of the game. Maybe some of you that actually drum have done the math on it already.0 -
Roger Taylor from Duran Duran should be on this list.
Agree with most of the others, though.0 -

Neil Peart is hands down THE best drummer. Ever. In any galaxy. And I love the fact that we share the same last name...0

Phil Collins was great before he replaced himself with a drum machine and started singing.0

How am I in a thread with people who love drummers & am the only person to say Brann Dailor???
I suppose he's technically more metal/progressive hard rock but come on!
Dave Grohl was quoted as calling him the greatest modern drummer in the world, he has had a huge spread in every major drum magazine (& some simple rock & metal magazines), & is said to be, by countless writers, the only drummer in the world comparable to Neil Peart!
Some even say he's better because of his polyrhythmic, complicated playing.
It's near-impossible to play his music.
He's like Peart in the sense that he cash hold 4 different beats-one with one hand, one with the other, another with one foot, etc etc
His band Mastodon isn't quite fully mainstream...so I'll give the benefit of the doubt & tell myself that nobody knows him.
Go to his YouTube page & then come post again lol
I agree with a few posts, but for the most part he blows away evvvvverybody mentioned in this thread0 -
Of course, Animal from the Muppets was pretty talented in his own right...

Roger Taylor. (Queen)
Though I can live with him not being in the top 5.
I'm just waiting for the "Top 5 Rock Guitarists of All Time" - thread to mention Brian May.0 -
I'm a huge rockabilly fan and always appreciated Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats. Not really a 'rock' band, but I loved his style and showmanship.0
