has anyone tried XSL diet pills???

I know you shouldn't take diet pills cause alot of people say the dont work... But i keep seeing these on the telly and they are like £30. And ive read some reviews on them aswell. Some people say they are really good and few say they aint.

I wanna try them out for myself just the once so i get my own idea on them. There meant to help you lost 3 time more weight than dieting alone.

Im just curious to know if anyone has tried them here and did it work for them

There are no magic pills. For the prople they "work" for, it is a placebo effect, where they think they are on a magic pill so they eat better and exercise because they are all motivated. No legal, unprescribed "diet pill" does anything of note. And the illegal and prescribed ones aren't worth the trouble.

take the £30, put them aside, and follow the wonderful advice here on MFP, and reach out to get the amazing support that is available here. then, when you reach a milestone (down 10 lb, or fit into your HS jeans or whatever), you take the £30 and buy yourself a new outfit/shoes whatever you want.

I haven't tried them, I have no intention of trying them, i don't need to try them to know that MAGIC PILLS EXIST IN FAIRY TALES ONLY. they don't work. the only thing that works is commitment and hard work

Oh, and I haven't read the XSL pill hype, but I betcha that those people who lost weight, also followed a "sensible diet", and/or these are diuretics (meaning a water loss), or some kind of appetite suppresant (meaning that as soon as you stop taking them, gee - the weight goes back)

Even if they make you lose weight, that's not going to be sustainable unless you're planning on taking diet pills for the rest of your life.

They keep popping up because of Marketing... Don't buy into it... they try to bombard our brain with it long enough in hopes of you finally saying ah well i need to give it a try. Don't waste your money. Eat whole foods, exercise 4 times a week min 30 mins and run at a 20% calorie deficit. You will lose weight.

No, I haven't and have no intention to try any diet pills. I suggest you don't as well. Keep your £30 for better use. :)

Yeh, I'd sooner buy a 30 quid pair of trainers and wear them out.

Yes,I'm with these guys. Save your money and spend it on something more worthwhile. These "pills" can be more harm than good. So many of them are money making schemes and if you do lose weight, you won't be able you sustain it for the rest of your life.

Keep to a safe deficit and just have patience. The weight will come off :)

I read the replies to your post, and it seems the consensus on MFP is NO DIET PILLS. I thought I would tell you about something I have found to help. You can't take it forever, and once you stop taking it, there's the possibility of putting the weight back on. However, I found it to be very helpful to jump start my loss. I must also say, if you are prone to addiction to substances, you'll want to steer clear of this product! With that said, it's called Adipex and must be prescribed by a doctor. You have to be in the obese category for the doc to be able to prescribe it to you. It's a type of amphetamine and really helps suppress the appetite and increase energy so you feel better able to work out. If I remember correctly, it can only be prescribed for 3 months, so it is NOT a long term solution; it's just a jump start. Also, you can't have any lapse between prescriptions; you must fill it immediately, before you run out. You can't start again for like 6 months.

I'm sure this information may be upsetting to some people, but I just thought you should know about it.

Feel free to add me if you want support!

I guess I should add that I'm in the USA. I'm not sure those regulations apply anywhere else! I'm in Ohio, and those are the regs here.

There basically a different brand of Alli which has been available for a while. If you are seriously considering go and speak to your GP as the non branded version they can officially prescrible. There are however numerous side effects with these pills including the disgusting sounding ' Anal Leakage' basically if you go over the fat limit for the day you get diaharhea.

Personally I concur with everyone before and wouldn't touch them, but it may be worth speaking to your GP.

In defence of the guy who made the comment, I didn't and still can't see anything nasty in it, I thought it was ironic and funny.

My doc actually recommended Alli to me. Definitely worth talking to your doc about. I didn't take it long enough to tell you how it works, but my doc thought highly of it.

I tried another brand some years ago which, I think, work in the same way. they stop some fat going into your body & it comes out in your poo. These were from my GP's so double strength from the one's you can get over the counter & although they did speed up my weight loss abit I had many smelly accidents where you just poo without any warning a fatty discharge which is disgusting and not a good look. I guess these will do the same just perhaps not so bad unless you eat loads of fat, I would stay away from any pills & just do it the proper slower way, but it is tempting when you see these ad's isn't it.

Oh god, I had no idea these pills caused 'smelly accidents' - they don't seem to mention that in the adverts do they! Haha! Step away from the diet pills - YOU DON'T NEED THEM!
My friend used to work at a health food store and one day he bought me and my housemates some 'presents' as jokes....one friend got milk thistle extract (because she'd recently got really drunk), another friend got some dried fruit as she had a little obsession with raisins, and I got these diet pills cause I'd recently lost quite a lot of weight. I thought what the heck, I'll take them and see what happens. Boy oh boy I didn't sleep for like two weeks! These things had the same amount of caffeine as 5 strong cups of coffee and you were supposed to take 2 pills three times a day! I learnt my lesson!! Healthy eating and exercise for me!

if there were easy, safe pills you could pop to lose weight then doctors would be handing them out. there aren't. anything that really works needs medical supervision because they just aren't safe otherwise.

you have a baby? you have far better things to spend your money on!

I think doctors like Alli because if a person eats greasy food, they crap their pants. However, gallbladder disease has been found to be linked to low fat diets and Alli lowers fat absorption.

Diet pills suck. Just change your eating habits over time. Honestly, if I can do it, anyone can. I used to eat over 5000 cals a day routinely.

They work on the same principal as Alli, being fat binders. My experience using Alli was not pleasant at all! You get greasy, horrible, uncontrollable anal leakage. Even following a diet that was not high in fat. Honestly, I would steer clear of these pills. Follow a calorie controlled diet using MFP, throw in as much exercise as you can manage, and the weight will come off without the unpleasant side effects!

You can get some pills off of your doctor that work on the actual food you eat, as opposed to your brain. "Orlistat" (in the UK anyway) or you can buy them in shops (no prescription needed, but they are fairly expensive) and in shops they are called "Alli" they work by taking half the fat out of the food you eat, so you don't digest it. I took them for a month, and I feel they worked. No nasty side effects, no appetite suppressing feelings, etc. You take them if your meal has more than 15 grams of fat. Also, they cost the price of a prescription (free if you're out of work) so I would suggest asking about them before you buy any different kinds!

If you didn't have nasty side effects, you are in the minority. Alli is FAMOUS for uncontrollable anal leakage - if your meal has more than 15 grams of fat, the pills make sure it leaks out your butt.

I was on the user trial for these. Unless you get a large proportion of your excess calories from fat, they won't make a difference. You don't get the Alli-style anal leakage because they form a kind of binding gel in your tummy. They did make me feel a bit fuller, but they also made me desperately constipated!

I heard about the "anal leakage" side effect and I personally never experienced it! Then again, I didn't eat excessive amounts of fatty foods when I took them, so perhaps I was spared the horrendous sounding side effect! I did, however, lose more weight that month than I usually would! After a month and a half, my doctor suggested he didn't think I needed them, so I came off of them. Overall verdict though - they did help, but I only took them for 6 weeks (roughly)

Yes I agree,I have heard terrible thing about Alli and it looks like XSL works in the same way ( ?) . Basically you poo out the fat.
I saw a documentary ( Horizon maybe) which showed that if you are on a diet to lose weight if you eat low fat dairy every day eg skimmed milk, cottage cheese etc then you pass more fat when you go to the loo and its makes the diet more effective than if you exclude dairy completely.
I'm just mentioning that because its sounds like a similar, less aggressive method to the pills
