A banana, chia seeds, cinnamon, flax seeds, and a tablespoon of honey. Or maybe some blueberries or strawberries to go with the chia and flax seeds. Other options include a fruit cup (packed in water) or vanilla-flavored protein powder.

Berries, blueberry, or raspberries are my favorites but have also added pomegranate seeds and a few walnuts or pecans.

I have recently started making pancakes with my oatmeal every day.

    1/2 cup steel cut oats
    2 eggs
    half mashed banana

mix all together and spray pan with non stick spray....makes 2 pancakes....i use the other half of the banana to slice on top. ( syrup optional)

I was getting tired of my bowl of hot oatmeal

    I love overnight oats
    1/4 cup rolled rolled oats
    1/4 cup almond milk
    1/2 cup greek yogurt
    1Tbs chia seeds
    1Tbs maple syrup
    1Tbs almond butter
    Fresh berries on top

Mix first five ingredients then top with almond butter and berries. Leave in fridge overnight and the next morning you will have oats that are pudding like. Delicious!

A tablespoon brown sugar and a tablespoon of heavy cream makes oatmeal muuuuuuch better. And what others have said about blueberries and other fruit is a good addition too. Steel-cut oats are truly a wonderful breakfast, especially on cold mornings in the fall/winter/spring in Minnesota.

I like my oatmeal savory rather than sweet. A little butter and some sea salt are good, and sometimes I add black pepper to that. I've also tried some instant oatmeal packets from India that had things like peppers and curry, or veggies and lemon. I like those quite a bit.

LOVE oatmeal for breakfast. I throw in some blueberries, a few raw almonds and chia seeds for protein. My mouth is watering just thinking of it....

frozen berries omg yum, they melt with the warmth of the oatmeal and stain it to a reddish/purpley colour
