You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but eating CRAP is not going to make your insides healthy, no matter how well you stay in your macros... perhaps you need to do some more research?

And this is why fights break out and people can't have discussions

    YOU TAKE THAT BACK!

Lab testing among other things... having fatty liver disease or not... simple things like that... cholesterol, etc (really did I have to explain that?)

Ok so testing is important = starting weight 560 pounds, diagnosed severely fatty liver, full blown type 2 diabetes, severe sleep apnea, very low kidney function, lipid panel so out of wack the Endo dr. told me point blank lose the weight or be dead within a couple years....... Fast forward 4 years, Lost 312 lbs. Liver healthy, kidneys functioning normal, A1c 5.3 (was 10.0 @ 560 lbs.), last 4 - 6month lipid panels "perfect" Endo dr. words not mine. have worked with a dietician who knows everything I eat and has no issues, Eat to my caloric intake, hit my macro's and spend my remaining calorie on discretionary items (ice cream, etc, etc.). I don't think a bowl of ice cream is going to kill me or a few pop tarts.... but again I would never tell anyone there diet is bad cause I don't classify food as clean or dirty.... Best of Luck

    Calories in/out = weight gain/loss

Body composition = macro nutrient sufficiency

    Overall health = food sources
    That works.

Umm ... People can eat whatever they want .. If it's working for them and they feel good, that's all that matters ...

But can we agree that humans really didn't evolve to eat chemicals like red dye no. 40, yellow no. 5, aspetame, sucralose, hydrogynated oils, etc.

I mean there has to be a happy medium between a healthy ,whole food based, omnivorous diet and a overly-strict-afraid-of-toxins-organic-only ortherexic one, right?

EDIT: I myself like wine, I think that's a natural product, but others think it's bad ... The whole thing is so subjective ...

We didn't evolve to eat cow's milk either but lots of people drink that and enjoy good health :P Not to say "omg red 40 is super healthy for you"... but the natural argument doesn't hold much water. Really, we should base our understanding of healthy vs. non-health-promoting foods on scientific research, not on what our evolution was possibly directed towards.

That was a very astute and eloquent observation and analysis. I agree.

Kinda sorta we did, and still are. Cows and humans (Like dogs and humans) have enjoyed about 10,000 years of co-evolution.

We now have an enzyme that can digest cow milk, thank to this (Well, most people).

And, quite possibly, given enough time, our bodies will find a way to use Red 40, or use saccharine for caloric needs.

But, all in all, I agree with what you said: Research to figure out what is healthy, not evolutionary adaptation, which change all the time (Based on natural selection).
