THIS is how hard it is to reach 1200 calories

I guess my question would be, how did all of you come to hunger for the good stuff like what was posted above?
I perhaps don't agree that it doesn't look appetizing but I'd have to agree that there's more to healthy food at least in my lifestyle. The pics here in the majority remind me of comfort food. But personally I believe people should do what makes them comfortable and what works for them.0 -
This looks so good, I wish I could go to the store and buy this all ready made.0

I'm getting the feeling that 1200 cal a day goal is bad news, but my goal by MFP is only 1230. Do you guys set your own calorie goal or what? I would love to eat more, and weigh less!!0

I started at 1200 cal a day. I did this for months and I lost weight consistantly. Recently I hit a plateau and did some research on calorie in take. Mind you I was eating 1200 and working out 700 to 800 a day so my net was very low. Some days I only netted 400 to 500 calories. I read all the post on "do I eat back my exercise calories" and felt very lost. I have since upped may calories and I try to eat back 50% of my exercise calories. I am eating normal stuff just making sure I pay attention to portion sizes. This is really easier than I thought and I think its all about listening to your body.0

I usually eat between 1600-2300 calories per day. This week I'm trying to stick to around 1600. And next week I'm going to do 2000 calories.0

I'm sorry but the majority of those foods you posted look absolutely disgusting to me. The oatmeal looks like soup gone bad and that so called icecream? ewww There was another one there I got completely grossed out over too but can't remember what it was called. But you have got to be kidding me if you think thats appetizing.0

I started a medically supervised weight loss program August 1st, and the doctor told me to stick to 1000-1400 calories daily, and exercise. I did that and have lost weight, no longer need to take blood pressure medication, after a second opinion from my general practitioner. However, after everything I have read and learned here, I am a little concerned about the long term efficacy of staying on this low calorie plan. I originally planned on doing the program for 12 weeks, then sticking with a healthier lifestyle, eating the maintenance minus 300 calories per day of goal weight.
I try to eat 1200 a day. I don't mean it is an effort, just that I do not want to go under 1200 after everything I read. If I don't get there it is due to work, being busy, or something. I mentioned feeling like I may be in starvation mode, reached a plateau, since my weight plateaued at 259 two weeks ago, continues to hover there.. He seemed unconcerned and told me just don't go under 1000 calories. does the body readjust and are these plateaus temporary? From everything I have read here, I am probably eating too little.
I am really wondering if I should go up to 1600 calories or more the next 6 weeks, maintaining whatever weight I am at that point, just reducing my caloric intake by 300 below maintenance for my goal weight. I am not in any hurry to get to a magic weight, especially if this low calorie plan is ultimately more harm than good. I am 77 inches, medium to large framed. Also, if I am doing a lot of digging trenches, moving concrete blocks, cutting trees, should I increase my protein beyond recommendations here?0 -
Great post! The food was all healthy, yet delicious-looking! I used to do 1,200 cals (net) and sometimes even lower but it was hard work staying that low. I managed to lose 6 lbs but regained 3 lbs when so easily. Worst of all, I was hungry all the time and did not lose weight or inches. I recently upped my calories to 1,350 and did not gain weight so I'm upping it to 1,450cals this week.0
