    And the repeat posts.

You know the ads are linked to your browsing history right? If you been on pizza company websites you will get their ads. Presumably if you look up a lot of porn you'll get their ads as well but I wouldn't know

I look up tons of porn but I never see any ads for it on MFP. What am I doing wrong? Right now there is an ad for Butterfinger on the right side of the screen and I never eat candy bars. Ever.

Yep, the ads are from browsing. I had been on Toby keith's website, then logged in here. Had an ad for his new song to be downloaded by iTunes.. always nice to have his smiling face instead of pizza staring at me!! ;)

No, just how I find it ironic that junk food ads are often on MFP.
And second, clean eating is eating all good nutritous foods
You get ads specific to you, based on your browsing history.

So if you're getting a lot of junk food ads, well ....
so if I get a lot of monistat and preparation H ads...............???? \m/

this may sound stupid, but when you complete your food diary, i wish they would factor in all your chosen nutrients..mainly sodium for me along with cals for your "in 5 weeks" #..

Um .. How would they possibly be able to do that? Sodium can make you retain water, but it has no calories and won't make you gain fat.

I do wish the reporting tool was more robust. This tool could be really phenomenal. Where you could run a report on all nutrients, not just one at a time.

Another thing I would change, is that the original calories calculator would be better. Have it more like Scooby's. Teach people what TDEE is and answer basic questions about eating back exercise calories or not. That would save so much newbie confusion!!

When someone reports you, you should know who. no anonymity. Some people are trigger crazy with the current system.

Oh yeah, people with no sense of humor too:bigsmile:
you burn more calories typing like than you do pressing a like button......stop being lazy!! \m/

    That's what I'm talking bout! A positive attitude:happy:

The labeling of food as clean/dirty sucks. That is all.

I think I am becoming a little dirty/perverted eater.....I can tell by the adds that are being targeted at me based on browsing history.

    I think I have become a foodiphile :-(

Pizza and beer for everyone, hurrah! :drinker: :drinker:

What sucks is when people whinge about a FREE site. Just sayin'. :flowerforyou:
Took the words out of my mouth missus. To get such a great site for nowt is pretty rare.

As for people worrying about fruit sugar vs, er, sugar... sugar is sugar is sugar is sugar.

I don't see ads anywhere on the internet. Many people aren't aware of it, but you can get a free add-on through your browser called "Ad-block Plus" which will remove obnoxious ads from anywhere on the internet. Firefox users and Chrome users for sure but I assume the others have it also. Internet Explorer sucks who knows about that one.

Just look for SETTINGS on your browser menu and see if you can track down PREFERENCES or ADD-ONS or whatnot.

See the internet without all the garbage. It's nice.

So if you're getting a lot of junk food ads, well ....

The ads in the forums are also based on what is being discussed in that thread. For example, I opened a thread titled 'weight-loss surgery' and at the top of the page was an ad for, you guessed it, weight loss surgery. I have never googled anything about weight loss surgery. The ad program responded to words found in the thread.

Someone earlier mentioned a car ad, and now there is a Subaru ad at the top of this page!

Advertisers are clever. You may see ads for pizza even if you are doing fitness stuff. Why? Because what is the biggest problem of dieting? Willpower. And the advertiser knows that. They know that people dieting are probably going to be desperate for pizza. So who better to advertise your pizza to?

Remember, advertisers do not tailor their search criteria just for people who are searching for their product. In fact the clever ones are trying to figure out all the angles.
I find it ironic that people think they can never have pizza again for the rest of their lives.

That's because you don't understand addiction. It's like thinking a former alcoholic can have a drink once and a while. You just can't. When I sit down to a Papa Johns pizza, I eat half the pizza. It tastes so good that I can't stop eating it.

It's far better to switch to a diet of less appealing food. Natural foods generally fit the bill. Unless you are going to drop some serious coin on some really good steaks, or shrimp, or lobster, there aren't many natural foods that make you want to sit down and consume half-a-pizza's worth of calories.

I find it ironic that people don't realize that MFP can't control the ads. I find it ironic that people think they can never have pizza again for the rest of their lives. I find it ironic that people think ads are sabotage. Just stating random facts (or not facts because they are my opinion) without really considering if I am using the word ironic properly in a sentence. Carry on.

Thank you. That made me laugh out loud.

Yep. Ads are linked to your browing history. I was looking for a used car for my daughter now I get all kinds of pop ups from cars.com, carmax etc.. I hate it

Clear out your cookies and browsing history and they will go away.

Hmmm. Funny, my ads are Charter Communications and Choice Hotels. Wish they had a "like" button and that I could read forums from my phone/tablet.

I can eat an entire pizza in on setting. But I will do that once every few months. Alcoholics won't just have one drunken night and then not drink again for months and months.

I like the taste of pizza. I am not addicted to it.

MFP is much less confusing for newbies than Scooby's site. It really is pretty self-explanatory, and there are stickies on the forums explaining the reasons for eating back calories. Just no one ever reads them.

NuVet "Help Your Dog's Lumps, Bumps, and Tumors Naturally!"

Hubby and I were talking about our elderly English springer spaniel's mammary tumors. He googled "canine mammary tumors" online. FIVE MINUTES LATER I signed onto MFP and the above ad popped up on my home screen. "They sure didn't waste any time," he said.
