I love burgers so when I am craving I just make a healthier version at home!

Nothing wrong with treating yourself once in while btw...

Here is how the chili is WAY better for you. I don't know why everyone wants to fight over a cup of chili. I was stating what I did and what worked for me.

Here is the burger, just the regular burger - single burger.

So basically anything with lower cals than something else is way better?
  • I do also make burgers at home. Some of us crave greasy burgers, some of us crave candy, cakes or pie or sweets in general. My weakness is big ol' burgers.

A better choice than bacon? Um, no.

Sure, you are right, bacon would be less calories....if you only ate 4 or less pieces. Otherwise, you are over what a small chili would be, which is 180 calories. I am pretty sure that he wouldn't be filled up on 4 or less pieces of bacon. AND, it probably wouldn't have gotten rid of his craving!!
  • I am not gonna fight over a burger on the internet - but for a small quick - get your craving satisfied I think the small chili is a way better option. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to say to you.

We eat burgers when we want one...mostly at home using 90/10 ground beef...if going out to get a burger, well, I count that as a treat and plan accordingly. One burger didn't put you overweight nor will it keep you there. But Five Guys wouldn't be my first choice for a burger. Enjoy

Call me crazy, but if I want a burger, I eat a burger. Now, I may eat a kid's burger, skip the fries, or eat a full sized one and eat nothing else the rest of the day, but I just eat one. I don't really figure I'll succeed in this for very long if I go around craving certain foods. In fact, I don't think I really want to do it bad enough to completely give up certain foods forever.

    OMG!! That is disgusting!!

    So gross.

Looks like one of the new pretzel bun burgers... Good God, I can't wait to try one of those. Nearest Wendy's is like 20 miles from me though.

    Would be totally worth it.

This, however, might be dinner tonight. I've been strangely craving lasagna lately, but gosh this looks good instead.

Something I've found suprisingly effective at controlling cravings has been to reframe what they are in my mind.

Instead of thinking "I'm craving..." (which I do wayyyy too much, to the point of having already apologized to my fiance for how I'll be when I'm pregnant... and no, nowhere near that yet) I tell myself "I have the taste of ___ in my mouth" (not FOR but OF)

I don't know why but that's really helped me curb giving in to the cravings (which I'm no longer allowing myself to call cravings )

Still waiting on the explanation as to why this is healthier?

The numbers are lower, but that's it.
Doesn't make one healthier than the other.
Also, there is fat in the chili as it's made with beef.

I do love me some five guys! It's a really good thing the closest one to me is 5 hours away...

But I eat turkey burgers and/or veggie burgers at home when I'm wanting a burger but don't want to ruin a good day!

I'm not understanding what the issue is with eating a cheeseburger?

I take lean meat and grill it on my good ole' Foreman, slap it between a whole wheat bun (120 calories per bun), add a slice of tomato, and plop some sharp cheese I've sliced on top. Whole meal is around 330 for that burger. Big whoop?

My calories always come in under. If I'm feeling frisky I'll cut up an avacado and slap that on there too.

If you want a burger, eat a burger.

I just had cheeseburger for my dinner. Home made burger using extra lean beef, with onion and peppers almost dry fried and my 'bun' was two large grilled mushrooms. Pop in some low fat cheese and then mayo and chutney cos burgers not burger without sauce, add lettuce and fresh tomatoes and all done. It was fab and tasty and fairly low cal.

Couldn't squeeze a 'real' burger into my count today but this was pretty darn good.
