    Only for art. I have no problem with other people posing for erotica though.

    Also, I draw people, so Playgirl, no, but I would draw Coach_T - he would be a great model.

    You cannot compare posing for art class as the same as posing for Playboy.

    Why is photography not art? Last time I checked it was. So is the use of an airbrush. Even if I don't agree with the use of airbrush or Photoshop on nudes. Either way its art. As an artist I must defend art, and your insinuation that nude models are *kitten* is a direct attack on artists and their subjects. For every great work of art that is created there are thousands of pieces of mindless garbage not worth the paper its printed on. Without that smut, trash, or whatever other label you wanna put on it. We would never get the diamonds in the rough that are know as our collective great works of art.

    Would I pose nude for play-whatever? Absolutely not.

    Would I pose nude for a grassroots fund-raiser to benefit a humanitarian cause (e.g., to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, end violence against women and minorities, cure diseases, etc.) sponsored by an organization I respected? You'd better believe it.

    I've already been photographed nude, though I never saw the pictures. I was at a nude beach, appropriately undressed, and a bunch of fully-clothed tourists had their cameras out and were snapping away. That was 30+ years ago and I was 20 pounds heavier than I am now.

    There's a line between art, even erotic art, and representation of the body that is solely for the purpose of sexual arousal. I don't think it belittles art to differentiate between art and porn. Even so, posing for Playboy/Playgirl is not equivalent to having sex for money, and I don't even want to belittle people who actually do have sex for money. I'm just happy not to be walking that path in life.

    Or... promotion of smut as art demeans art. if the sole purpose of your photography is to induce people to sexual excess, then it is not art. Or it is not art that I find uplifting.

    Maybe I am not understanding this right...

    So it is ok for "art" in the form of canvas and paint or sculpture to bring up thoughts of "What was this artist thinking?" "What were they trying to convey?" "Why does the Mona Lisa have a smug look on her face?"

    But "art" in the form of the human body, taken by a camera to elicit the thoughts of "Look at the physique on this person." "How did he get his abs to look like that?" or any other number of question, including some that are less than PG rated. This art... is prostitution? Why because they get paid money to pose for them?

    And where do you draw the line of prostitution? I remember not so long back that Demi Moore posed for a magazine while pregnant with no clothes on (Granted her private areas were not shown... but still, she was naked, and on the cover no less. Is she a prostitute because of that? Or is it art because she had her arms and legs folded in a certain way to cover herself. Or art because she was naked and pregnant showing off the female form?

    Like I said... I am just confused *shrug*

    Just because people are willing to succumb to their baser instincts does not make it right. Do you recall your parents asking you 'If everybody was jumping off the cliff, would you do it too?'

    The important thing to remember is that art is meant to portray, as well as evoke human emotion. Sexuality is currently and has classically been a popular subject matter in the art world. Is all of it good? No. Creating quality meaningful art is very difficult. Don't believe me? Try doing it. You may not like a particular art form, but that doesn't mean it isn't art.

    I can honestly say as an artist, if I could produce a piece that evoked a strong emotion like sexual arousal I would have one thing to say "mission accomplished".
