Be my guest LOL I have 8, by the way, but all are easily hidden except that one. I made sure of placement when I got them.

It does sound like BS to me but something that I want to start doing lately is, instead of getting mad that the bosses are being idiots and letting other people get away with things, to try to think "I don't know if those other people are getting in trouble for the same thing, they probably are or will at some point." Just do what you know you need to do and be your best and I think good things will happen to you.

I was told once that the dress I was wearing was inappropriate for work. I pointed out to my supervisor that a colleague was wearing the exact same dress, and was told that the other person did not have the same "assets" that I did, and it was therefore appropriate on her, but not on me. Sometimes body composition makes a difference as to what's appropriate, and what's not.

    Holy HR nightmare.....

SMH..... A completely inappropriate comment from a supervisor....

I am going to need pictures where your "assets" are more clearly visible to better understand your post. It's for educational purposes, you see...

my mom always tells me, "you're responsible for your own actions, not the actions of others."

i hope that the other women in your office were talked to as well. it seems that their clothing is also inappropriate, but in a different way. theirs is inappropriate because it sounds like it's just not enough clothing. yours is inappropriate because it sounds like you work in a business setting, and capris/shorts and sandals/flip flops aren't business casual. however, you can only change YOU, and there's no reason you can't blow them away with some awesome business casual attire!!! it can be beautiful, flattering, affordable, and comfortable!

When I started to gain weight and got over 200 pounds I had to learn that an obese person has to make double the effort when dressing to work in the morning to look acceptable and well put together. Things that look good on a 135 pound person often do not look at all good on a person double or triple that weight and often actually look sloppy. With 200 pounds plus I would not have worn a mini skirt, capris, uncovered shoulders or flip-flops even though the dress code was not against it. Of course I am not American, nor live in America where it seems the general dress code is quite casual.

I would ask for a copy of the written dress code.

This post is useless without pictures of your outfit and the other offenders outfits as well. How can we properly judge you without visual evidence?

And seriously, what is a TM?

I once got asked to go home and change a top because it didn't cover enough. well I am big busted and have cleavage but it wasn't a low cut top, I just fill the top out more, and ironically I pointed out that another thin and smaller chested girl was wearing the same exact top and no one had said anything to her about her top. Mine was a correct size for my body, not too tight or too loose, and classy. The manager said its because its distracting when I wore it because I was pretty and she was not. I so wish I had a voice recorder that day. He let it drop and I kept wearing the shirt whenever I wanted.

My personal rule is to just always meet the letter of the dress code and then I'm never in trouble, regardless of what others do. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.

If you HONESTLY believe your attire meets the dress code as written and you're being discriminated against, take it to HR. But, it's not an HR issue if you are factually in violation of the dress code, regardless of how they handle other employee's violations.

You wear what they tell you at work. Simple as that. You're wasting time discussing it really.

I despise this simple fact.> There is age discrimination, weight discrimination, and ugly discrimination. and those particular discriminations also apply to men, but to women even more. If the 'other offenders' are younger, prettier, or skinnier, it is a plain and simple fact that they will get by with things an older, not so perfectly skinny, not so 'hot' woman will not. Fact of life. This is a hard time for jobs. If you need yours, I would ask my boss if my clothing was inappropriate. If he/she says yes, then find something else to wear. If they say it is okay, ask that they clarify that with the other TMs. But I wouldn't say anything about the other girls. That is just immature---unless you are a 'union job' with specific dresscode. If not, then it just boils down to "life ain't fair."

I wouldn't want to lose a job over a pair of capris. And flip-flops are flippity-flops no matter whether they are plastic, leather, or diamonds. And in all honesty, should NEVER be worn anywhere other than the beach. These have somehow become 'shoes', when in fact they are not. When my daughter started college, she was told there was no dress code other than NOT being allowed to wear flip flops. The reason---too many injuries, turned ankles, etc.

Wearing them to work is tacky for a teen-ager and ridiculous for a grownup (and I am not meaning to be rude). Yes, it sounds like yours were a nice pair of sandals, but in reality, they are really just a nice pair of flip-flops. You are already lucky if they don't have a strict dress code on shoes. Every job my daughters have had since high school has required that you buy a particular pair of shoes.

Unless of course she is discussing it on the company's computer. In which case.. she may be speeding certain things up.

TOTALLY and inequivocally untrue. I guess if you've never been young and hot you might not know so let me explain. Once when I was young and hot I was spoken by a manager who said even though it looks SO awesome how you wear your uniform with no pantyhose, and they are silly to be worn with something so revealing and with tennis shoes and socks, they ARE the dress code and you MUST wear them or be written up. Another time I was told at a totally different kind of job, even though those shoes are incredibly wonderful to look at and your pedicure with the different color toes is extremely fun to watch those shoes are outside our dress code as being "open toe" and so you must comply with dress code by tomorrow or be in violation and I will have to write you up.

Both male bosses. Both clearly impressed with my looks/attractiveness. Both to the point and by the book. Young and hot has nothing to do with it. If you're ugly, that's your problem.

Excuse ME -- THAT was rather RUde AND UNnecessary. And, excuse me, I WAS once young and Very Hot. I worked in Corporate America. I SAW the 'cutesy, flirty' girls get by with painint their nails at their desk and the boss stopping to chat about their color choice.' While I sat next to them quitely digging thru a stack of work. I had no lack of male attention---I just didn't seek it at my jobplace. So, it DOES happen even if you are young and hot. I can't wait until you are not so young. Even if you are older and hot, you are still older.

Apparently, you aren't old enough to recognize that attitude changes when you pass a certain age. Of course, NOt AT EVERY WORKPLACE...and I did not say that. Apparently, you had good bosses who did not let your hotness interfere with what they thought was appropriate.

And 'ugly' can be deeper than skin deep. and your response was Not HOT. Have a cup of coffee and chill out. The rudeness was UNnecessary.

Absolutely. Years ago (when I was a straight stick), a girl in my math class was sent to the principal's office for wearing a short skirt to school. Before she stormed out, she pointed to me (and my tiny skirt) and asked why I wasn't in trouble too. The teacher calmly answered "Well, she doesn't have any curves. It's not offensive". Short-skirt girl was furious and I was humiliated.

The above response by another to my observation about Discrimination totally caught me by surprise. And since it may no longer serve the purpose of the OP, I started a New TOPIC:

    Discrimination--Weight/Age/Hotness/Not-s0-Hotness??

Please come on over and let me know your Discrimination Issues---or not. Thanks.
