A general desire to look good/not be fat.
This^ in general, I never feel like going to the gym... I love it once I'm there and feel great afterward, but I push myself to get there. Just put on a jacket and get going.

how I feel and whether I'm motivated are irrelevant. Make a plan and determine to stick to it. Make it routine and don't listen to any excuses!

and I'll agree with the don't-go-home-first theory :)

    Dude!!!???

I honestly expected this one to be coming from a 50-60 year old, seriously overweigh person. But you?

    Man up.

No offense meant, but seriously. Man the F up.

^ Same as above and I kinda just bite the bullet and tell myself that I wont get results if I don't go. Works EVERY time.

I'll toss in Rocky OST on my playlist and go. I thrive in the cold. It's warm and sunny weather that makes me lethargic and lazy.

Being cold on the way into the gym is so much better to me than going when it is hot and sticky. It is coming back out that sucks!

I wear my gym clothes under a warm pair of workout pants and jacket. Plus I know once I get inside I'll be warm once I start working out.

To put this as nicely as possible. I just put on my big boy pants and I go get it done.

Well, since the gym is inside, the outside temperature doesn't really matter.... And once you get moving, you'll probably embrace the cool temperature outside after you finish your workout.

During Chicago winters... hmmm focus on the calories burned while shivering your *kitten* off.

Naw, I work out at home, so that's never a prob. Still, it's hard to get out of those covers!

Well since it would be awkward to squat my computer desk and deadlift the couch, and they aren't nearly heavy enough, I think I'd have more FUN at the gym.

I find it harder not going to the gym on rest days.

Live in Minnesota where most of the year is cold.

Getting out to a nice, warm gym? I'd take that over going out to get groceries!

I tend to not make STUPID excuses to get my workouts in. That's just me though.

Yesterday I was amped for a gym session, planned everything out in my head but when I got home and felt hoe cold it is outside of the office I just wanted to stay warm and didn't feel like hitting the gym anymore?

How do you guys overcome this hurdle or are you in the same boat?
Must not have been that amped or you would have gone.

It being cold outside has no bearing whatsoever on the gym. If it's icy underfoot, I might drive instead of walk, but besides that, just get **** done.

Just grab a hot cup of tea, wrap yourself in that lovely chenille throw that's on you sofa, and watch Bridget Jones' Diary.

And then have a good cry.

I tap into the same motivation that makes me go to the gym in the first place, and combine it with the knowledge that I own a jacket.

I live and work at a research station on a small sub-antarctic island where it is currently the middle of winter! Our gym equipment is in the boatshed and to get there requires trekking across the site in sub-zero temperatures, often in howling winds and blizzards... when you think it is too cold to go to the gym where you are, think of me and the motivation required to get to my gym!

I live outside the city, so hitting the gym would be very inconvenient for me. That's why I work out at home. Plus, in the winter here it can get to -38 celcius, so.......hell no!

I say to myself, "Well, at least it's not 119 degrees out," then I put on my bright orange fleece lined pullover jacket my daughter bought me last year for my birthday (always makes me smile) and head to the gym.

Excuses are just a rationalization for failure. You either want to go or you don't.
