I love the original Halloween. Also Pet Sematary 1 and 2. They used to scare the crap out of me when I was younger.

Also, I love Christine because it is cheesy.

I said Alien in an earlier post, but let me add:
    Near Dark
    Lost Boys
    Monster Squad

None are scary, but have vampires that don't sparkle... And Wolfman with nards

There was a movie about a murderous big rig truck, cant remember the title. And one about a tire.

Thankskilling is hilariously bad if you like intentionally bad movies.

The one about the tire is called "Rubber". The tire's name is Robert. I freakin' love that movie :)

I have a collection of hundreds of scary movies. Love Love Love them! As a previous poster mentioned, Dead Birds was a good one. And Wolf Creek is cringe-worthy! The Broken is awesome - my 13 year old figured that one out before me - unheard of! I also really like the story line of The Darkroom. A few more of my favorites:

    Captivity
    Hunger
    Road Kill
    Acolytes
    Ashes
Breaking Dawn (not the vampire one. this is about a psych student)
    Rogue
    Bereavement
    Raw: Night of the Wolf
    Heartless

OMGoodness - an awesome one is Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer. It's so good...and it was filmed just 20 minutes from where I live :)

I loved Cabin in the Woods.

The Hills Have Eyes (remake) gave me nightmares for weeks after the eviscerated dog, and rape scenes.

Summer's Moon is creepy. It has scary parts but it's more creepy than anything.

People under the stairs. I was...13 maybe? Nightmares for days.

Not sure if it's still scary; too freaked out to ever watch it again.

My dad's girlfriend loved B-grade horror, so I hate the genre, but I've seen all three Basket Case movies & all eleventy (not really, but I think there were 5 or 6?) Puppet Master movies because of her & I'm still freaked out by them. :frown:

I did like House of 1000 Corpses & The Devil's Rejects, though. :drinker:

Probably nothing you haven't seen yet

Hellraiser - loved the hooks, chains and all the freaky cenobites
Braindead - this was the only movie ever that made me gag (pudding anyone?)
Scream - loved this one. I was a teenager back then, so this movie was to me what Halloween was for teens in the 70's, cool and original
The Ring - one of the few actual scary ones I've seen.

    Psycho (Original)
    Tucker and Dale vs Evil
    Dead Snow
Shaun of the Dead (Not sure if this is horror, but it is about zombies)

I loved Tucker and Dale vs Evil! I don't know what Dead Snow is, but after I added Shaun of the Dead, Dead and Breakfast was suggested, so I added that too. That was a pretty funny/gross movie.

Killer Klowns From Outerspace. Scared the beejeezus out of me when I watched it ...... geeze....... 20 years ago? Now, it's laughable. Some good ones I've watched on NetFlix (horror is my fave genre), are Grave Encounters and Grave Encounters 2. Also Cabin in the Woods. My favorite current movie? I watched The Conjuring. My mom in law screaming and covering her face was just as good as the movie!

Zombie Strippers. Okay, it's more of a comedy. I don't really like true horror movies.

ETA: Fire in the Sky and The Serpent and the Rainbow both scared the crap outta me. Mostly because they were both based on actual events.
  • My absolute faves are what my friends call "gory horror porn," stuff like House of 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects, Hostel, etc. But of course I still love the classics from the 80s; I'll pretty much watch anything with Robert Englund.

If you want something truly disturbing watch "A Serbian Film" I was utterly speechless after this one, not unlike after watching "Human Centipede"

I was speechless and nauseous after watching Human Centipede. I haven't brought myself to watch the second one yet, but I'm sure I will once my curiosity gets the best of me.
  • Yep, my curiosity definitely got the best of me! I watched it...
  • Wolf Creek
    Creep
    The Shining

I like the more psychological type of horrors.

You probably haven't heard of Wolf Creek if you live outside of Australia - it's *very loosely* based on a serial killer here.

My other half hates horror films, the only way I can get to watch them with him is if I lie and tell him they're 'psychological thrillers'.

Yep, I used to own the Wolf Creek DVD. It was a pretty good film.
  • UPDATE.

I purchased The Lords Of Salem yesterday.
I'm a huge fan of the Rob Zombie movies, (The originals, anyway).. I loved it.

It received a lot of negative feedback, but it was really weird, and that's what I like. Weird and disturbing.

Plus, Sheri Moon Zombie is just flat out sexy. Especially with those dreads.
