I desperately wanted a Mr Frosty... they looked so cool..... but it was never to be....

I longed for one of these as a child. Bought the modern day version for one of my kids and it turned out to be a crushing disappointment in shattered expectations.

I wanted a baby elephant when I was six years old, and boy did my dad have a time explaining me that yes of course he loved me, but wanting an elephant is a ridiculous request. I actually still want one, but I am obviously not equipped or qualified to own a pet elephant and realize how crazy that dream is. Lol

After watching the movie Andre I wanted a Dolphin that could live in my bathtub.

Roller skates. We would go out the the skating rink and I always had to rent them. I was always envious of the people that had their own.

The only thing I can ever remember asking for while growing up was a guitar for Christmas when I was 8. I got super excited when my cousin got a drum set and my brother got an electric keyboard. Then they brought my gift out and it was some Barbie stuff. Apparently they deemed a guitar too noisy.

I wanted to be a porn star.

I knew that it would be hard work so I practiced all through my teenage years (actually started at age 11).

I practiced till I thought I had it down perfect and then got married. Ended that dream.

    (Sigh)

I wanted an easy bake oven so bad I couldn't stand it, but never got one. I got one for my daughter when she was 8, and one day we were playing around with it, and she asked why don't we just make cupcakes for real. So we bagged the EBO, and had a much better time with the real thing.

I always wanted a motorcycle growing up. But my mom would never allow it. I was 27 before I got my first motorcycle. Now I have two (just never sold the first one when I upgraded) and never ride lol.

I also always wanted a new saddle. I have ridden horses as long as I have walked. My dad got me a used saddle, which was perfectly suffecient. But every spring, my dad and I would have a day trip one Saturday where we took the horses to the amish in tennessee to have them shawed, then we would spend the day going to all the tack shops and such. I would drool over their hand made saddles, always wanted one.

A snake. Not a large one, just a regular garden snake. I use to go hunting for them. My mom was terrified of any kind of snake so when we had one in the house she called for me. Then i realized i really did not want one. Couldn't bring myself to pick it up.

Now i don't love them but i don't mind them either. My husband is terrified of them though (along with mice) so if we come across one i have to take care of getting rid of it. I don't mind though because he takes care of the spiders (YUCK!).

I also wanted a horse. Finally got a few of those when i grew up.

Talking Kitt car from the Knight Rider TV show. I actually got it for Christmas one year BUT it came with two left doors in the package so I couldn't assemble it correctly. My mom promised to swap it out. She took it back to the store but didn't come back with a new one :(

    POW-POW-POWER WHEELS!

But all in all I was a very fortunate child with loving parents who did their best. I was just not a child on wheels.

A big wheel! My parents though they were too dangrous because you couldn't hear cars coming (and we didn't have sidewalks). :grumble:

I really wanted one of these as well! They were really expensive back then though, and they can be bought relatively cheaply now, so my kids are definitely getting one and being forced to ride in it whether they want one or not, ha.

I wanted to be a tiny (10" tall) person so I could go swimming in the bathtub as often as I wanted. I loved swimming and we couldn't afford a pool.

Teddy Ruxpin. I got a Casey instead. I used to put my Madonna tape in it and laugh like crazy when he would mouth the words to "Like a Virgin"

Pretty much sums up my childhood--wanted one, had a lot of other awesome childhood memories (loving parents, etc.), and when I have children.... they will definitely have one. They might have to fight me over who gets to drive it, though.

A Sit N Spin. It always looked like fun.

So when I was about 25 years old, and my then toddler nephew got one, I said I wanted to try it. My family said I wouldn't fit.

I did. And it was awesome.

A baby elephant would be so fun! You could probably find one in Thailand at lead to say hi to.
