I loved the clothes back in the 80's (as bad as they were).
This is why I love the movie "the wedding singer". Just brings back good memories.

    Yup, good times.

When I was in jr. high the "cool" thing to wear were the MC Hammer type pants or the ones the had the "Wings" on them that buttoned together in the front. Also, ALL pants were tucked and rolled at the ankles. :embarassed:

I use to love to ware my pants tucked and rolled.   Wow I forgot all about those :noway:

    Let's see... where to begin...

Who ever thought that neon-colored slouch socks, side ponytails, peg-rolled jeans, slap bracelets and banana clips would ever go out of style!?! I guess that's assuming they were ever 'in-style' in the first place.

I can't speak for the rest of the people on this site but I lived through the 80s. 'Nuff said.

    Uhhh......they aren't in style anymore?!?!
    Boy am I
    >:embarassed:
So that's why people keep taping "kick me I'm a nerd" sign to my back.

Ok, I just want to warn you that when I wrote this song
I was listening to the Cure a lot.

    [Sung]
You don't know how much I need you.
    While you're around I don't feel blue.
And when we kiss I know that you need me too.
    I can't believe I found a love that's so pure and true.

    But it all was bull****.
    It was a goddam joke.
And when I think of you and I,
    I hope you ****ing choke.

I hope you're glad with what you've done to me.
I lay in bed all day long feeling melancholy.
You left me here all alone, tears running constantly.

    Oh somebody kill me please,
    somebody kill me plee-ase,
    I'm on my knees,
    pretty pretty please kill me.

    I want to die.
Put a bullet in my head.

Ok...I found a pic the other day that i had totally forgotten about, and frankly wish had not resurfaced! I was wearing a jumpsuit, fabric the same as parachute material in emerald green, belted at the waist with a big wide belt, ankle boots, and a gold hairband that went ACROSS my forehead! I thought I looked so awesome...ready to dance the night away in the early 80's! BLECH!

I am cracking up reading all these posts!
    The 80's were so funny.
late 70's early eighties, how about when you made the ribbon barrettes! Hair parted down the middle with barrettes on each side with ribbon hangin down from them.
headbands (I looked damn good in them under my feathered hair)
flashdance shirt with matching drop waist miniskirt in grey and pink with leg warmers and bobo sneakers
(I didn't do it but...) wide belts with beltbuckle sayings (boytoy, your name, etc.) like Madonna
Gotta love scrunch socks over pegged pants with High Top Reeboks!
Do you remember the 2 toned jeans (acid wash and regular) I LOVED them!!
I used to wear... hahaha a cardigan sweater...BACKWARDS! with the buttons down the back with a tank top underneath! I'm giggling as I type this!

Okay, to top it all off.
I had stitches in my top lip and I had to do a fundraiser for school.
    picture this...
couldn't talk. mom wrote out what I needed to give the neighbors.
hair parted in middle with barrettes.
    navy gymnastics bodysuit.
green shorty shorts with white stripes around bottom and up sides
rainbow striped socks pulled all the way up to knees
    AND HERE'S THE KICKER.... rollerskates!
    ROFLBO!!!!!
I skated around the neighborhood looking pathetic handing my neighbors this note! HHAHAHAHAHAH! Jeez, I wish I could remember if I got a lot of money!?
hope you all had a nice giggle! I know I did!
    MEMORIES! gotta love 'em!

I am soooo enjoying this thread!! It's tooo funny and such fun going down memory lane:drinker:

I'm not sure if this was a regional thing but I'm remembering my t-shirt dress, the one where my mom took a t-shirt alot larger than me and sewed a skirt to the bottom of the t-shirt made out of some kind of gawd awful print material that matched the colored t-shirt. OMG and she even made a little pocket on the shirt out of the material that the skirt was made out of!!! This is all just now coming back to me!!!! My friends and I were soooooooo HOT in those dress and our jellies (shoes)
  • Did anyone else have feathers for earring and for the hair clips? And the really dangly earrings that went to the sholders?

Vuarnet t-shirt. Whitish Z-Cavaricci pants, tightrolled at the ankles of course. Loafers, no socks. And, not six months later, I was listening to Nirvana and wrapped in the dingy-est looking flannel I could get my hands on. The early nineties were a strange, strange time.

Oh My gosh... I remember the Michael Jackson Thriller look. And the parachute pants.. with all the zippers... Me and my sister would put our hair in the banana clips on the opposite sides. I remember the blue eyeshadow. And the winged flyaway hair doos. I would do my bangs like the movie What About Mary... What memories...
