52lbs gone - Finally time to show some before/afters...

I have been losing and re-gaining the same 20lbs for the last 8 years. Throughout my adolescence I joined WW twice and dropped down to about 165lbs. At 22 years old and 190lbs, and completely fed up with being nearly obese, I finally decided to get my life, health and fitness back. I wanted to lose that 20lbs again. And then... I wanted to lose another 20lbs, and more. I never could have imagined myself at 138lbs and training for a 10k (race date: Oct 30th!) - This is the lightest I have been since I was about 11 years old - Wohoo!
I cannot begin to explain how proud I am of myself every day! I tried for years to take this weight off and finally through patience and perseverance, I've succeeded. Another 8lbs to go to my final goal! I know that I can do this
Dec 2007 - between 180-185lbs
July 2008 - 190lbs (SW)
Nov 2009 - 175lb (the beginning)
July 2010 - 150lbs
Oct 11, 2010 - 138lbs, at the start of my 5km race
About to cross the FINISH!
Thanks to all my MFP friends and community for all the support - What a wonderful resource and a great source of motivation and inspiration. Lots of love!

Little by little, really. I didn't even start counting calories until this Sept. One year ago, I stopped smoking and drinking. Then I started paying attention to all the sugary things I was putting in my face. I stopped drinking anything that wasn't water and coffee. I started out with what I thought would be easiest for me - since I don't like soda and I don't much care for red meat, I cut those out. Little by little my diet got better. Then I starting walking like crazy. And by March of this year, I started jogging. It was sooo hard when I first started, especially having been a smoker, but I pushed myself to get better even though I was embarrassed about how unfit I looked running (gasping for breath, never running farther than 200 or 300 meters, etc). It just takes time.
Best of luck to you on your journey!0 -

Lol! Thanks :blushing: I bought it at Old Navy because it was on sale for $10 and I knew (hoped) I would be growing out of it soon enough. No sense spending lots of $$ when you are intending on losing weight - more shopping is a great incentive to keep losing!0 -
Amazing, way to go. Congrats!0
