I love the fact that you were okay with taking is slow with getting results over the long term. Most diets I start with the thought that I will loose 25 lbs in the first month or two. But I guarantee that I if I thought that way 4 years ago or even last year I would be much happier right now!. Thanks for making me think of the long term picture!0

Simply wonderful. :flowerforyou: WTG This gives me hope. Congratulations for a job well done. You have done this so I know without a doubt you will reach your weight loss goals.0

In the moment, I was never 100% comfortable with how slow it was going sometimes. I knew to keep it off it had to be slow, but I always wanted to be further. But now looking back, I am glad I learned to deal with my expectations and discomfort.I love the fact that you were okay with taking is slow with getting results over the long term. Great Job! That is very inspiring. A lot of people feel like they have to lose it all right away, and if doesn't work they give up and say I'll always be fat. But you show people that it can be done with moderation and consistency, and in fact it is probably a much healthier way to lose that much weight.
Way to go!0 -
Well done - your achievement is really amazing and is a great inspiration to me. I have struggled with my weight all my life, and am ONCE AGAIN trying to lose weight. I am super impressed that you stuck it out for so long, and didn't give up. I have always achieved a certain loss then given up and put it all back on again.
I hope to be able to write a post like yours with before and after pictures as well.

So anytime I hit any milestones, I like to put a before & during picture up, to hopefully help or inspire someone else, which in returns motivates me to keep going. I started this journey 150 lbs ago. I didn't realize how heavy I was. I realized that my weight was increasing, but the person in the before picture was not how I felt that I looked. I was working on my weight and then was in a car accident-- I couldn't work out for months and I was very down. I dealt with it with eating and this was the heaviest I ever was. There were lots of things to motivate me to start getting lighter and healthier. I also would like to mention that no one has ever said that I should lose weight (at least not to my face)-- my family never addressed it, my friends didn't, doctors, etc. I know it would have been hard to hear, but I wish that someone would have said something. But in October 2008, I decided that it was time for a change. I started working out and started watching what I ate. It took me 4 years to lose 100 lbs. I lost about 25 lbs a year and I was happy about that. Last October I made even more changes and became more focused. I lost the last 50 in the last year. I have about 35-40 more lbs that I want to lose and be the healthiest I ever have been. I realized that this is the smallest I have ever been as an adult and I am loving life. I didn't do anything to fix the problem quick- I didn't starve myself, I didn't get surgery, use laxatives, shakes, juices, or HTC, or anything else. I did it all with diet and exercise. It's been a great journey and I can't wait to see where the rest of it leads. I am excited that at some point soon I can finally have a before and AFTER picture, instead of a before and during picture. Hopefully I can motivate someone else and show you that hard work and a goal can help achieve your goals.

Wow, you look amazing! Awesome job! Definitely and inspiration to me and hopefully many others.
Something you said really hit home with me...the person in the picture was not how you felt you looked. Me too! I am always surprised by how I look in pictures since that's not what I see everyday in the mirror.
Definitely and inspiration to me and hopefully many others.0 -

Great story and you are an inspiration! I am glad to know it does take some people longer to lose weight, too. I have lost 78 pounds since March but, I am about 102 pounds down from my all time heaviest. These last few months it is getting harder and harder but, I will not give up. No secret to lose for me either. Exercise - every day and eating better - no empty calories and very little processed food. Of course, MFP has helped me a lot, too. Seeing the calories add up and what exercise can do works for me. Keep up the good work! You look great.:flowerforyou:0

Great journey! Thanks for the inspiration. I have a 100lbs more to lose, I've lost 40 and it's taken me all year. Thanks for sharing.0

You look stunning! Thank you for the inspiration.0

Amazing results!
I am so happy to see someone post that it took them quite a while to lose the weight. I keep seeing threads with 100 pounds lost in 6-8 months and it only discourages me more.
I have been at it for about a year and a half and have lost about 35 pounds. I feel better about my slow weight loss now.
Congratulations!!
You are a very beautiful person!!

Fantastic job! Something you said really resonated with me...the person in the picture was not how you felt you looked. This is so true of me, too! I am always stunned when I see myself in pictures because that's not what I see in the mirror.
So true!
OP - great job! You're doing awesome0 -
Congrats and thank you. I get discouraged because it takes so long (that discouragement hasn't stopped me this time but it still is discouraging) and it is refreshing hearing that someone else has done it and it took them a while too!
Keep up the great work and I also can't wait to see the "after" picture.0 -
You look so wonderful! So happy that you were willing to take your time with it and just keep plugging along.
Congrats to you! :flowerforyou:0 -
You look amazing!
Hard work pays off!0 -
You look fantastic, and it's reassuring to see you still rockin the "girls"!0

Thank you for sharing...it is inspiring to hear that with patience and dedication it can be done without risking your life and overall health with surgery and diet pills... I wish you much happiness going forward... What resonated most with me from your post was that you called it, an amazing journey...I tend to forget to appreciate all the days of my life because of my weight and that is indeed a sad place to be...working on the weight and my self view...0
