Operation Fat Husband!

Morning Pals!

So, my husband is trying to put on a few pounds, so i am trying to think of some ideas for more calorific lunches and snacks he can eat at work... at the moment he has sandwiches or jacket potatoes or sometimes leftovers from tea the night before...

i know the drill with full fat dairy, peanut butter, avocado etc etc but am stuck for actual meals he can have?! he does have a microwave for heating things up but not a massive amount of time to eat.

any ideas would be gratefully recieved!!

    macaroni cheese
    Peanut butter and banana on toast/sandwich
    tuna pasta salad
    any of creamy pasta dish, can quickly be zapped! Or spag bol, chilli etc

    Always followed by cake!!!

    Milk - preferably chocolate ;)

    Or just bigger portions of what you usually eat. If he adds a bit to every meal he has it will be more manageable and will soon add up.

    Try a more calorie dense bread or roll, not all breads are created equal. I used to make my kids a triple decker sandwich when they were growing, and always hungry.
    Is he trying to just put on weight generally, or bulk up with muscle. How about some protein bars or shakes, in addition to regular meals, quick and easy to eat, don't buy the low carb versions.
    Or those breakfast milk drinks in cartons. Or just plain old milk, cheaper option :-)
    You could make some pasta or potato salads, add his favourite meats. A couple of boiled eggs would go down easily, or make some egg mayo, in a pot with a spoon, no chewing required, so it wont take him long to eat.
    Geez Im peckish now lol. Wish I was needing to gain :-)

    This is a challenge! But I always find pasta to be unfairly high in cals, so add a creamy/cheesy sauce and you'll fatten him up in no time.

    Also simple acts, like sautéing his veg in butter? And/or adding a little bacon in for flavour. Broccoli in a cheesy sauce is yummy, and potato bake, maybe? Chicken with the skin on, rather than off.

    I was going to suggest this also! Creamy pasta is to die for, nice and cheap and calorific.

    Aside from that, what about pastries? Sausage rolls, etc? A couple of peanut butter sandwiches could easily amount to 1000 cals! You could buy things like quiches that he could eat cold or heat up if he wants.

    Spanish omelette? Am guessing the potatoes would bump up the cals a bit. Also minced beef is usually high in cals, so chilli or cottage pie? Both are easy to make in batches and easy to reheat.

    This is much more interesting than thinking up low calorie meals!

    A good quality muffin is almost 600 calories and I can inhale one in about 20 seconds. Have one of those a day and he should gain a pound a week.

    You've only really mentioned food, but if he doesn't get much time for that what about drinks? Proper hot chocolate, fruit juices, full fat milky coffees, milkshakes, beer :drinker: (joke)

    Potatoes aren't as calorie dense some as people think, pasta is the way forward I'd say for carbs, and pesto is RUDELY high calorie, full fat yoghurts, etc., oh I could go on forever on this subject.

    I get that you don't necessarily want him to just start eating a pile of junk, so it is more difficult. Either that or he'll just have to eat more at home when he has time?

    Burgers! Topped with bacon, avocado(or guac), cheese, mayo. If you really want him to get fat, use grilled cheeses for buns! Lol. :)+
    Any kind of pasta dish, lasagna...great to make in big batches, cut and freeze in portion size containers. Then hubby can just grab a container, thaw until lunch time and microwave.

    wow! so many responses!! thanks everyone!

    I think i will go with some pasta for lunches next week, and quiche, he likes quiche! also, definitely full fat yoghurts as well.

    its just so unfair that there will be all this stuff in the house and i will have to weigh my little portions while he stuffs his face! at the moment we have reduced fat cheese, low fat yoghurts and generally leaner meat like turkey or chicken... lets hope operation fat husband doesnt lead to a fat wife as well!!

    Tavicks , id say hit up super high carbs+fats .

    Creamy pastas
    rolls with avo cheese bacon whole eggs etc
    Tortillas with homemade chilli(use fattier cuts of meat) lots of cheese

    my ultimate : PEANUTBUTTER BOMB SMOOTHIE 1000calories easy . Peanutbutter , protein powder , banana , coconut oil , nutella , ice , full fat milk , sometimes ice cream too

    One of my favorite sandwiches from back in my younger years; peanut butter, honey and coconut. Throw in some banana slices, good eating.
