You can also get reusable k cups online (check Amazon) that you can then put your own coffee in.

^^^^ This! I haven't bought K-Cups in a long time. I have the reusable k cup and put dunkin donuts coffee in it. You can find them on Amazon but they are also at Walmart too. When I did buy K-Cup coffee, I liked the Donut Shop coffee.

    Love my Keurig!

    Great prices @ Keurig.com or green mountain,com

My fave is Green Mountain. I like medium or dark roast - BOLD.

I also prefer to purchase Fair Trade and Organic. Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve is my FAVE.

I only drink 1 cup a day so I buy the 24 ct box for $14 instead of using a reusable filter. EKObrew is a good reusable. just too messy for me overall.

I'm into mochas these days. 1/2 cup milk, dark cocoa powder, raw sugar : 30 secs in microwave then I brew coffee on top . YUMM
  • My favorite K-Cup of all time is the Donut House Coffee. It's a good robust, dark roast with a strong flavor and it's just what I like to start my day.

I drink it black, as I do all of my coffee, but I assume that it would taste pretty good with cream and/or sweetener, if you prefer that.

If you like dark roasts and strong brews, you should try it out. I think you'll love it.

Some friendly advice on the Keurig.

I have found for the best tasting coffee use regular tap water and not filtered water. If you have a water softner use bottled spring water. I found that filtered/softened water gives the coffee a burnt taste.

    2) don't remove the water tank from the side of the machine to fill it. Only remove to clean every once in a while. Otherwise one day you will find that the machine will be broken. found this out hard way.

    3) Best Mild flavor I have found is the Dunkin Donuts. You can get a bag from Costco or the cups only come directly from Dunkin. The french vanilla DD is also very good and mild.

    4) To save some money get those as seen on tv refillable dishwasher safe flip top cups. I have the bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee from Costco and fill these up and then reuse.

    Hope this helps.

Van Houtte: Apple Caramel Pie... one of the best. You can get an 18 count for $11.99 at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Amazon has a very good selection. There is one collection of donut flavored coffees. Pretty good.

I LOVE my k cups! Donut House and the Donut House by Green Mountain as well. Pretty much any Green Mountain I like and I'm like your wife; as I'm not a fan of the super strong or Bold coffees.

I love my coffee strong, as I normally drink Cafe Bustelo espresso. So my k cup of choice is by Green Mountain coffee in Dark Magic Extra Bold, or 100% Colombian. Other much lighter flavors that I actually like for an afternoon treat are by the same brand in Southern Pecan, Hazelnut, and Cinnabon flavors. Delicious!
  • I am in love with my Keurig! Lol
My fav is Timothy's Cinnamon Pastry and Donut House :)
    She'll love the Keurig!

I'm sure she'll love it! I love mine and was one of my best purchases. I love any of the vanilla caramels, folders Mocha, any of the hazelnuts. I've had mine for about 2 years and haven't found any I don't like. Seriously, if she loves coffee she'll love any you pick.

On the Keurig site, they have sample packs of 5, so you try try different flavors. I got a bunch that way to try, so if I didn't like a flavor I didn't have a whole box sitting around.

I like the French Vanilla, Cinnamon Roll, Butterscotch, Caramel.

Regular coffee in the Green Mountain Nantucket Blend or Vermont Blend.

Cafe Escapes Caramel and Vanilla have more flavor than the others that I have tried.

    Hope this helps. Enjoy.

If you buy reuseable k-cups you can use your own coffee or tea saving a ton of money and there's no plastic waste. I got mine off of amazon, I bought the "Cafe Cup" and they're amazing. The one keurig makes is a piece of junk. It leaks and is so hard to clean. These are just like little k-cups that you pop the lid open and put your own stuff inside :)

I like Tim Horton's Kcups but I'm Canadian. :drinker:

Not sure they're available in the US yet or not. They just came out a few months ago in Canada.

I bought a box intending them to be for company only... I have yet to serve one to company.. they get the other random ones I have xD

I don't use my Keurig anymore because I drink waaay to much coffee for it to keep up (plus the reservoir started leaking), but when I used it my favorites were Timothy's Winter Carnival and Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but I love my Keurig. My favorite has been the Kroger brand French vanilla cappuccino. I bought another brand of cappuccino & I didn't like it, too coffee tasting. I also love the hot chocolate & Apple cider k-cups. There's also the new brew over ice kcups. They offer teas & vitamin waters. The teas tended to not be as sweet as I like though.

What kind of coffee does she like? I found the Keurig K-cups were not strong enough for me. I used to buy Jet Fuel by Coffee People k-cups, but this was before Starbucks started making k-cups (at least, I think they do now?). They might have stronger-tasting ones now.

LOL green mountain dark magic espresso it's bitter but strong. I actually don't care for it- sadly I have a box of 50 I sitting here I have to choke down.

But yeah- try that one- I agree K-cups do not make typically as strong as regular coffee- but it gets the job done.
(I actually am finding I don't care of them at all anyway- I prefer perked coffee instead)

Green Mountain is the best brand IMHO. Southern Pecan is my all time favorite but I love the seasonal flavors this time of year - pumpkin, gingerbread, spicy eggnog etc.

Since your wife likes milder coffee, look for flavors that are light or medium roast.

probably already mentioned but I didn't read the whole thread.

Donut Shop Chocolate Glazed Donut - smells delicious while brewing!
Good ole Starbucks :) Pike Place is mild
And the Apple Cider (bright green cup - forget brand) is sooooo delicious!

I haven't tried any of the teas yet but I want to!

LOVE Caramel Vanilla Cream, Coconut Mocha, and Chocolate Glazed Donut (among many others) for flavored coffees. I really love Honduras, Donut Shop, Caribou and a few others for plain coffee.

My favorite is chai latte. This isn't the greatest buy, but wanted you to see the package:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/keurig-caf-escapes-chai-latte-k-cups-16-pack/3811124.p?id=1218433529015&skuId=3811124&ref=06&loc=01&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=3811124&extensionType={adtype}:{network}&s_kwcid=PTC!pla!{keyword}!{matchtype}!{adwords_producttargetid}!{network}!{ifmobile:M}!{creative}&kpid=3811124&k_clickid=29d2c113-870a-9ce8-839f-00006c17d858

    It is really good!!

For hot cocoa for my grandmunchkins, I buy whatever kind they like, add it to a cup and just brew the hot water over it. Much cheaper than hot cocoa keurig cups/

I have a reusuable holder and uy flavored coffees, which still work out cheaper than an individual k cup. If you belong to Sams or Costco the cups are cheaper there. The french vanilla is mild, but the strength can be varied based upon the size she brews her cup of coffee!! Have fun! The holiday blends are a lot of fun to try also!!
