I have a 4 month old son (and a 19 year old daughter! LOL) and I'm also breastfeeding. I'd lost 130 pounds in 2012, prior to finding out I was pregnant last December. I gained 22 pounds during my pregnancy but have lost that and a little more since then. I've definitely hit a rough patch here lately with the holidays and trying to figure out my true "target" calories. I want to continue to lose slowly and have about 70 more pounds to go. Always looking for new friends so feel free to add me....

Hello! I see I'm in a similar boat to some of you, so please add me! I'm breastfeeding my daughter (#4), born 11/9/13. I'm 23lbs from goal weight, 15 lbs from pre-preg. I'd love some accountability and motivation on here too! Gotta break some bad habits picked up during pregnancy (ie: late night snacking - esp on ice cream and breakfast cereal, my favorites!)

I don't add breastfeeding on MFP. I just change the settings to make my goal calorie intake 1800 calories. Research shows that most women won't have milk supply issues as long as they get at least 1800 cal (I work as a lactation specialist).

So tough to try and control the munchies for me.... but I just gotta remember it's worth it in the end, when I can wear my baby in her carrier and not have back fat bulging out :)

Hey! I am partially breastfeeding my 3 month old. Not doing much in the way of exercise because of some medical problems, but my diet is going pretty well.

Still nursing my 20m old but finally moving towards weaning because I was mentally DONE when she was closer to 3m lol. She is my 4th extended nursed baby...and my last. I am so DONE. :) She is day weaned but makes up for it at night, at this point.

Therefore I don't care if my milk dries up so I am just doing my thing (I don't take any weird chemicals to aid in my loss and do make sure that whatever I do consume is safe for her, of course).

ETA: I would be careful with what MFP tells you to add calorie-wise for nursing. I wear a bodybugg that tells me what I burn daily and through the night. I do not burn 500-700 calories extra per day unfortunately.
Interesting. Can you tell me how it can tell how many calories you burn while breasfeeding? I don't understand.

Old post but maybe still helpful: The BodyMedia band calculates calories based on the traditional methods of BMR, accelerometer, AND moisture/heat/pulse. Its the last 3 that make it accurate within 10% of calories burned in real time. It is one of only a few activity trackers that can be this accurate without having to wear a heart rate strap all day. Polar Loop is another, newer device but its only super accurate when wearing the heart rate strap.
