Exercising during Christmas

I workout over Xmas. As a teacher I get 2 weeks off work, which is great, although it also means I have my 4 and 2 year old at home every day too, and now my 4 year old is at school he's not allowed to use the gym crèche.
My gym is closed Xmas day and Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, but open the other days, although it does have later opening, and earlier closing. I just have to hope my husband is home from work to look after the kids in time for me to get to the gym.
On Xmas day and Boxing Day I imagine we'll take the kids out for a walk, so I'll still get some exercise in. We also have Just Dance for the Xbox one, so we can burn off some calories playing that.
I'm 21 weeks pregnant and that hasn't stopped me from exercising, so not sure why Xmas should!0 -
I will.. don't know which days yet but I plan on getting in some runs.0
-
I am working out more than ever to combat all the food laying around at work.0

I am mos definitely. Today is an exception because of the ice we received last night, so the roads are too treacherous to run; but out side of that, I will run 4-5 miles every day.0

I had been until Saturday. I went to Zumba class not knowing that my sinus congestion (I am allergic to poinsettias and real Christmas trees and greenery) had escalated to bilateral ear infections. That laid me flat for the remainder of Saturday, Sunday and yesterday. Even walking through the house made me dizzy. Sometime yesterday the drugs kicked in and I am planning to add back walking today - even if I have to do it in the snow that is predicted. I am also planning to be back in Zumba class on Saturday on morning, but I am willing to skip if I am not 100% better by then.0

I'll probably take my birthday off - squatting with a full stomach is not comfy! There'll be the walk to and from Christmas Mass, though, so there's that. Most of my usual exercise is lots of walking and I'll get that over the Christmas period (from getting last minute supplies - read booze - and walking the dogs when I visit my parents.) I do intend to keep up with my 3-4 days a week body resistance sets though.0

The week of Christmas I start training for my second half marathon...so I actually am ramping up my exercise. And yes I am female.0

xmas and new years will be my rest days. Every other in between them will be a go for exercise.0
-
My family's going on a cruise over Christmas, which means I'll have more time and amenities than usual for exercise - I'm really looking forward to it!0
-
I will for sure. With Christmas and New Year's being in the middle of the week I'll probably skip those days and go on Saturday instead but I'll get my 5 days a week in.0

Why would you stop?0

This will be my 1st Christmas 'on track' but I have a walk planned on Xmas Eve with my Dad and have mapped a 5k route back at my Folks (where I'm spending Christmas) for a run on Xmas morning. I have also entered a 5k New Years Eve night run so will be behaving myself until at least 9pm on NYE!
This is in part to keep me focussed on making sensible (if not healthy!) decisions and in part becaus ethese days I find just sitting in an overheated house drives me stir-crazy.0 -
Just wondering, how many men continue their regular exercise program during the Christmas season and how many women?
I plan to be at the gym up to 5 days a week during the holiday season. I am participating in not one, but TWO challenges at my gym. One is called "santa slimdown" and the goal is to maintain, or continue losing weight during the holiday season instead of gaining weight. The other is called the "december 600" , and the goal is to exercise ( at the gym) at least 600 minutes in December. Despite a snow day and a death in the family, I am at 330 minutes so far, and on track to hit at least 600 for the month. At 1200 or 1400, you get entered into a drawing for a tablet computer.0 -
I'm going out of town to visit my in-laws the week between Christmas and New Years, but the YMCA in their town will honor my local membership, so I can still keep to my normal exercise regime.0

continues mine all year ..christmas or "holidays" is no reason to stop0

Just checking the thread looking for all the "regular people"0

I stick to my routine of running 3 miles a day. It's built into me like brushing my teath. I've been doing this for 2 years.0
-
I will exercise, but not my usualy routine. I will be away for 2 weeks, so no gym. But, I plan on being really active with the kids - hiking, walking, etc.0
-
Well with me I am going to try my best to keep it up to the best of my ability0
-
I'll be spending Christmas in a small town so I won't have access to a gym with barbells for my current routine. So no, I won't be able to continue my workout over the holiday.0
-
I still do my normal exercise routine, and now because I will be eating more.0

I only have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off this year so I'll be making use of the extremely quiet office gym when everyone else is on holiday.
But my father is staying with me for the holidays and I only see him for once a year at most so NO I will not be bailing on him to spend hours in the gym. Family is important.0 -

I put it down to fibre.....0 -
In for Christmas exercise!0
-
I hope to do more as not working for 10 days!
Me too! As a teacher, I am off work for SIXTEEN days (including weekends) so I better do more!0 -
I'll be taking Christmas day off but that's about it0
-
My gym is open 24/7/365. We have a holiday lifting group (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years) and every time the turnout gets bigger than before.
No reason not to stay on track.0 -
I live in China, no such thing as a christmas holiday season, i only get christmas day off and i will be online with my family in uk, having a nice dinner and a few drinks then back to the gym on boxing day!0

I don't have an exercise program, I follow a training regime and that regime doesn't care what time of year it is. If there is a workout on the calendar, it gets done.0
