Chipotle nearby? Steak burrito bowl with black beans, fajita veggies, green tomatillo sauce + romaine lettuce. 350 cals and 39g protein. Double the meat and it is 540 cals and 69g protein. Add some rice and or guac for add carbs or fat if you like at about 150 cals a pop.

So Wednesdays are busy for me, as a result dinner is typically fast food since I'm not home and don't have time to do anything else. I'm just wondering what you guys have hurled at you from the drive thru window when you need to get more protein?

    Rigger
Take out a frozen steak and put it on the Forman's Grill and 10min later its all good.

Subway's double chicken chopped salad with avocado spread instead of salad dressing. If I recall it is like 40g of protein.

ETA: apparently I cannot spell chicken. tough word...

A rotisserie chicken is a great idea.

Not a great idea, an AWESOME idea.
I love grabbing a couple of those from the store after a workout.....
I will just about eat the whole damn bird myself.

add a can of black beans abnd you have a cheap high protein dinner that will take a few minutes to prepare. Seems like the best option

Mcdonalds chicken bacon ranch salad with double the chicken - grilled - and either half or all the ranch depending on my mood and calories left. 510 for salad plain with 61 grams proten. Ranch adds another gram of protein and 170 calories if you eat the whole pkg. I'm often happy with half the ranch pkt.

I'm also a fan of the mcdouble - with bacon minus condiments plus mac sauce (they should just name this version the mini bacon mac or something) - 560 calories and 29 protein. And like someone else said - my cheeseburger fix is resolved.

I agree fast food isn't the best choice - but I understand how we can end up there and it's good to have an idea what I will get when I do end up there. Life's not perfect, I'm not perfect, my eating is not perfect - but it's all good enough for me. YMMV

Thanks for all the replies, That'll give me plenty of options. Tonight I had a salad with grilled chicken from Blimpie, it got the job done. A rotisserie chicken is a great idea, and there is a Panda Express going in between my house and my gym.

Thanks again everyone, and feel free to keep adding suggestions.

Look at that blast of sodium. Three of them is almost the entire US RDA for sodium.

I enjoyed reading these posts. Doc says I need at least 80 grams, preferably 100 grams of protein a day for healing purposes after a very major and difficult surgery. It is hard to get that much when I don't even feel like eating.

My husband made a Nugget McRibbwich once: shove chicken McNuggets in to a McRibb. Said it was AMAZING and also gave him heart palpitations. He won't eat it again, scared him too much.

Fast food meals often have too many hidden carbs and sugar, even if "high protein"(a lot, synthetic)

A better suggestion is that you cook a lot when you have time and put them in the refrigerator or freezer, then microwave it when you need a quick meal. Often times, processed food have many hidden sugar.

    This is what I do.

If carbs and sugar were bad for you, this would be a problem. But they arent and Im not sure what you mean by "hidden"?

Carbs and sugar is bad for you..Thats how you gain weight, fast food carbs are refined carbs..the bad ones.

This is my route, also. Pretty delicious, if I may say.

ETA: Also good with bacon. Also good with spicy McChickens if they're serving them in your area.

    What?

If you are getting all your micro and macro nutrients you need from the rest of your diet then there is nothing wrong with refined carbs. If you are eating them and that is what is stopping you from getting your required nutrition (micro and macro nutrients) then they would be bad, unless you are allergic to something in them of course, then always bad for you, not everyone.
  • My top places for higher protein fast or faster food:

Chipotle (burrito bowls, barbacoa or chicken for me)
El Pollo Loco (I usually get a salad with chicken and use the avocado salsa as my dressing)
    KFC (grilled chicken)
In n Out - protein style cheeseburger
Jimmy John's Unwich, no mayo (depends on my mood as to which one)

I've also heard that more and more "fast food" places are offering a protein style sandwich, often you have to ask for it for those that cannot have the bread for one reason or another.

And I love the rotisserie chicken idea. Quick, easy and not too bad for you.

I'm more curious about what "synthetic" is supposed to mean.

Synthetic? Hidden? Yeah that is not a good thought.

But more importantly for me in some respects is that yeah, those carbs and sugars are a problem. They might not be for you but for some people that are a very real issue.

I don't eat meat but my friends that do swear by Chipotle burrito bowls. They double the meat of chicken I think for an additional dollar or two and that definitely will up the protein. Chipotle has a nifty calorie calculator on their website if ya wanna do a little research/build your own burrito.
