Howdy fitness pals!
The title explains it all!
At what weight did that over hanging belly become flat for you? 1'm now at 160lbs and it's shrunk a lot but not entirely gone!
Please post you success stories and before and afters!

well I went from 350 to 247 so far and I've unfortunately still got a full fledged hanging belly but I don't expect it to dissapear. Even when I hit 160. Why? Because of the stretched out skin from being obese for so long. There will always be hanging there unless it's surgically removed. Same thing for my arms! I hope this isn't the case for you!0

At 45 I was not actually optimistic that I my lower belly would actually go down as much as it has but I do the elliptical backwards and that is supposed to help the lower stomach area and so far so good.0

<<<The picture here is July 2013-Currently...it is a matter of cleaning up the eating, consistent intake of water, and massive cardio for me..I am getting back in the weight training now and seeing great muscle development from that... I still have a lower pouch but it is getting smaller...0

I went from 225 and am now at 182. My overhang is almost all gone. Not sure how much is weight loss and how much is the oil I run into it everyday, or if it is jillian michaels and her 30 day shred. But I'm loving it. I have high hopes it will be gone entirely by 160. Maybe do more core work?0

The belly flap? Oh it's still hangin! :grumble:0
-
start lifting
resistance training will help pull all that back.0 -
I'm 5'3.5. 40 -45 from goal and I'm seeing my tummy go but as for the hanging over pants line belly,, I wouldn't say its really hanging. It sticks out though...and my fat is like a donut shape around my belly button o.o.. I'm not sure if that will go. but no harm in trying!
I think it all depends on how much you have lost, how fast, how old you are, genetics and the type of exercise you do. So there are a lot of contributing factors, which is why I'm in the same boat as you haha. I'd love to see some 5'3-5'5 women and what weight they were when they lost there's. I have a feeling i'll have to be around 130-120lbs before mines almost gone. =(
^^ Mine is sort of how it's described here, not really hanging but it sticks out! I'm pretty sure, because I've been overweight for so long that I'm going to have to cut down to a pretty low weight then do a bulk. This would be to, I suppose I could say "full up" any potential lose skin. That being said, I've lost weight slowly and have seen amazing improvement since lifting weights0 -
I'm 5'4.5" and I never really had a hanging belly, I'm 188 pounds right now. I guess it just depends on the person.0

I still have about 20 pounds to go, and it is smaller but still hanging on.0

3 kids later I still have mine. It's just smaller.0

Still got a handful of it... Working on it... (I'm 176 pounds)0

I'm 5'5 but close enough. I weigh 149 lbs. It still hangs a little bit but not much. I noticed it start going down around the 160 mark. Slowly but surely.0

So far I've lost 62 pounds but I've still got it! It's "shrinking", so to speak but its not gone at all. I dont think it ever will.
What kind of exercises are people using that are helping??? Be specific please, for those of us who need "Belly Exercises for Dummies". )0 -
I've gone from 167 to 138 and still have my belly. It's definitely getting smaller but it's taken the longest out of any part of my body.0

Do you turn around or just motion your legs backwards with your body facing forward. Typing this "out loud" makes me think the latter, but I'm just curious.0 -

LOL  I was thinking the exact same thing!! "Backwards on an elliptical?? That's what people are doing now? Sounds dangerous!!" :laugh:0 -
I'm 5'4" and my highest weight was 220. even then, I didn't have one. Everybody's body is different. I carry my weight in my boobs, butt and thighs and maintain an hourglass shape regardless of weight (up to 220 at least!). But I work with a girl who can't weigh more than 120 and is about my height... and she somehow has a tiny gut.0

Yes every body is different but that doesnt mean we cant get fit or lose bf% or should just give up. Even apple shapes can get fit. I hold all my weight in my breasts and thighs too but at a high bf% my abs cant be seen (due to that small cover/fat store) Just as i bet yours can't.
I think the general idea here is keep eating well, keep lifting and working out, make it a life style and as i said before, even an apple shape can get abs. No need to discouage.0 -
Every person is different and if that part of your belly is excess skin then you won't lose it. If you are blessed with great elasticity in your skin then it will bounce back....if not, it will just hang. I lost 130 pounds, kept it off for two years and my mid section had hanging skin....in 2009 I had that skin removed....there is no amount of exercise or miracle lotion that will take it away....it's all genetics.0

I think there might be a difference between hanging belly and just a big bloated belly that does not hang. The hanging belly literally hangs down, like a flap & I have it, and the big belly doesn't hang. My belly didn't start hanging over and down till I hit a certain weight but that was over 200#. I've always had a huge belly, probably due to emotional issues, but it's always looked like one of those "starving children" pix, even as a child. Just a huge belly, but not hanging.
Right now it is hanging down, but I am hoping that once I start going back down I'll lose the hang again and it will be just big. I was down to 204 earlier this year and it started to hang a lot less, then I went back up, and well it did too, and really hangs.0 -

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Anyone can get abs. It's all about what you eat, what you do and if you keep it up. I was told i'd never have abs and it was genetics. NO. I have abs!!!!! 1 year of hard work, weights 3 times a week, eating right and never giving up. I'm so proud i ignored the put downs. My skin snapped back, that took 2 years but it did. 120lbs lost 4 years to lose the weight.
Don't give up, don't let rude jealous people put you down. Be the best you can be and NEVER give up.0 -
Absolutely.....don't get discouraged. You're doing a great job however, not everyone has the same elasticity in their skin....abs are under your skin....you can tone your abs to be rock hard but if you have poor elasticity and the skin is hanging and lose, it won't snap back. Fortunately some people have great skin....hopefully you are one of those people. Keep up the good work!!!0

Honestly, mine went away when I had it lopped off. I had a horrible panniculus, even after losing 60 pounds because of my two pregnancies. A modified tummy tuck was needed to remove the excess skin.0

I'm 5'4 130lbs and I've lost 22lbs since i started but that lower belly is still hanging because I'm just that lucky0
-
Haven't lost it unfortunately. I've gone from 271 to 123 and that stupid belly is still there. My doctor says I should only lose 3 more pounds before I am at an unhealthy weight. Sure hoping those 3 pounds come from my disgusting gut!0

I think if your hips are narrow, more sticks out in front.
so it shows more - wider hips flatter tummy.0
