A new year, a new month and a new monthly challenge! For some of us it will mean walks at the mall or trips to the treadmill to avoid the ice and snow. For others it means wonderful walks in the warmth. And still other may have blistering heat.
Our challenge is to do 10,000 steps in a day. You can do this for any one day or try for the entire month. Jump right in at any time! You can set a lower or higher goal if you wish. Our main goal is to keep activate every day!
It's easy to join - Just post here to begin!
You will need a step counter to keep track of your steps and then post your results daily here.
Step right in to a Happy New Year!

March 2013: 573,649 steps; 425,252 aerobic steps (3229 minutes); 262.51 miles
April 2013: 546,454 steps; 377,651 aerobic steps (2855 minutes); 250.09 miles
May 2013: 525,991 steps; 375,374 aerobic steps (2835 minutes); 241.10 miles
June 2013: 437,492 steps; 273,289 aerobic steps (2145 minutes); 200.31 miles
July 2013: 561,989 steps; 412,369 aerobic steps (3115 minutes); 257.25 miles
August 2013: 656,842 steps; 495,671 aerobic steps (3634 minutes); 300.80 miles
September 2013: 657,422 steps; 496,948 aerobic steps (3590 minutes); 301.08 miles
October 2013: 627,686 steps; 432,314 aerobic steps (3486 minutes); 287.21 miles
November 2013: 567,904 steps; 328,796 aerobic steps (2682 minutes); 259.81 miles
December 2013: 527,550 steps; 330,562 aerobic steps (2722 minutes); 241.26 miles
January goals:
Daily: A minimum of 13K steps and 10K aerobic steps every single day.
31-day goal: 465,000 steps; 310,000 aerobic steps (2790 minutes); 217 miles
Continue all walking streaks - Current streaks as of 12/31/2013:
- 10K steps: 632 days - streak started 04/09/2012
- 11K steps: 339 days - streak started 01/27/2013
- 12K steps: 185 days - streak started 06/30/2013
I'm pulling back a bit on my minimum daily steps. I was doing 18K steps a day for over 4 months straight - and by the end it was becoming a real struggle to get those steps in every single day. I was always tired, and as a result, I ended up derailing my training regimen for my next marathon. With my next race now only 4 1/2 weeks away, I have serious doubts as to whether I'll be able to complete the full marathon. Depending on how my training goes this weekend, I may decide to downgrade my registration to the half marathon - if there's still availability (this race is getting close to selling out).0
