You could:
1. Eat a little less over the next few days.
2. Burn off those extra calories through a workout.
3. Realize that it happens sometimes and not worry about it as long as it isn't an everyday occurrence.0 -

Agree. Eat it, log it, and move on. One day won't make any difference in the long run. I did about the same damage on New Year's Eve, but it's all good.0 -
What they said.... plus
Try to understand why it happened or how you could have made a better choice so next time whatever happened comes up again - you can do it better.
That's all I got. It's not the end of the world.0 -
Remember that a pound is 3500 calories, so 500 is no big deal. Do better tomorrow.0

its saturday..eat up!
once a week is all good!0 -
Don't feel guilty, because it'll just discourage you! I would suggest trying to keep a sated appetite at all times, keep healthy snacks around that FEEL like bad ones (yogurt, cheese, pineapple) and if you feel the need to binge, binge on celery, broccoli, or homemade popcorn. i have a serious bingeing problem myself and i find if i drink tons of water and eat lots of protein and a variety of other nutritious foods throughout the day (make sure you hit all your food groups!) you'll feel less empty at the end of the day.0

It's just one day. Don't worry about it. Just start anew tomorrow. It will be fine.0

Punish yourself tomorrow by going (at least) 500 under.0

This post just inspired me to eat 9 more doritos0

I agree as well!
This may or may not help you, but I actually track my calorie and macro targets on a weekly basis. That way I am never upset if I am over or under my goal on any specific day.0 -
I wouldn't stress over it.
Did you gain weight? No? Then what's the problem?
Did you gain weight? Yes? Do a deficit for a few days until your weight settles down again.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Nothing to it.0 -
Pay attention to the weekly calories you consume under the nutrition portion of your app.
I will eat under my daily calories one day/week so I can eat a lot on Saturdays. (I'm over 1,000 over my maintenance for today.) Works for me and allows me to enjoy myself.0 -
What I would do is forget it happened, not beat myself up over it and get back onto healthy eating tomorrow. Don't worry, it's only 500cals! xx0

I do this too-usually I eat less calories on Monday and Tuesdays and then my weekends are epic  I did alternate day IF for weight loss and even though I no longer do it, the high/low calorie pattern has stuck with me and I think it's one of the reasons I'm maintaining so well. There's nothing wrong with eating over your maintenance calories, as long as you compensate for it on another day.0 -
I would say just forget about it and continue as normal ... it happened to me plenty of times and it never hindered my weight loss plan ... one must expect a few falls ... this is life ...0

This sounds like it could lead to an ED, i would not reccommend.0 -
I stopped keeping a food diary for a few months after reaching my goal weight. Despite eating junk food, and way over 1,200 calories, I didn't gain any weight. I think your body gradually adapts to normal amounts of food again. In hindsight, 1,200 was too low for me, and I was tired and hungry throughout the year I lost the weight.
Don't worry about it. An extra 500 calories one day will do you no harm at all.0 -
This may not mean much coming from a guy my size but worrying about 500 cal extra on any one day is a destructive mindset that is unsustainable in the long run. You just can't live that way.0
-
One day is irrelevant....losing, maintaining, gaining are all about what you're doing on a consistent basis. You're not going to gain any fat having eaten 500 calories over maintenance for a single day...that's not the way the body works. The human body goes to great efforts to maintain and can make use of occasional excesses of energy (calories)....it takes consistently under-eating or over-eating to override your body's ability to maintain.
I pretty regularly exceed my maintenance calories...I'd say at least twice per week...I've been maintaining just fine for 7 months.0 -
Started back eating right and blow it Saturday. So I come on here and track my eating so I can get on track tomorrow and the next day. One day at a time. I watched Doc Zone (Canadian show) They said do diet and habit breaking in moderation. Don't beat yourself up if you slip just get back on the horse.0

Agreed - I am a more of a weekly girl myself.
Also agree with what everyone else said. At the end of the day, one day over isn't going to harm you! and it sounds like you are very aware of it, so just start fresh today!0 -
