(Fitness Tips that are just BS to ME)
In my twenties I was advised not to lift heavy weights because it would cause severe menstrual pain:laugh:0 -
If you fast longer than 24 hours then your brain shuts down.
*This is despite me fasting 40hours 3 days a week without food & my brain still being very very active*0 -
To completely cut out carbs and consume only protein, this one's is a HUGE peeve of mine.
CARBS ARE YOUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF ENERGY, and without them your body will suffer!
Protein's function, while containing smaller amounts of energy, is primarily tissue repair and construction. For Pete's sake, stop telling people to not eat any carbs! It's bad for you!

"You can have a net intake of calories greater than what you burn and still lose weight."
*Edited to clean up redundant use of the word "still."0 -
Tea doesn't count as drinking water but you can add lemon to your water to make it taste better.0
-
squats are bad for the back and knees and never lift anything over my head
/mydoctor0 -
-that there are good carbs and bad carbs
-clean foods
-eating carbs after 6:53pm
-eating 14 meals/day every 63 mins.
-detoxic
-fish thins the skin
so many out there, don't even know where to start0 -
don't eat after whatever o'clock.

^^This too^^
Food will stick to your bones after 8PM.0 -
you shouldn't do the big compounds often because you'll "overtrain" LOL0
-
If you don't do [insert the adviser's exact method of eating/lifting/pooping here], you will fail miserably at weight loss.0
-
If you lift 6x a week you will over train.
Can lose weight unless you do cardio.
you need to eat more fruits and veggs to lose weight.0 -
"Should you really be drinking that protein shake? It's going to make you big and bulky!"
"Why are you lifting? You're going to have ginomous muscles and you'll look like a guy!"
"You have an omelette for brekkie? You should only have muesli/cereal/bread or your body's metabolism won't kick off"
There is so much more that still makes my head spin.0 -
-Eating less that 1500 calories will make you sick.
-Vegetarian diets are unhealthy
-You need at least your body weight in grams of protein a day0 -
don't eat after whatever o'clock.

Hah, I guess that means us 9-6'ers are screwed!0 -
Had someone tell me that if I lifted weights while obese, the muscle would form over the fat and I would be flabby.0
-
Stop drinking Starbucks - uh, no! :noway:
Stop eating carbs!
Of course, do not eat after 7, try juicing and detoxing. :grumble:
My fav is........counting calories doesn't really work!!! It's :::insert fad diet::!!0 -
"If you lay down after eating you will get fat"like i'll turn into a fat gremlin
I'm dying over here! I've heard the cutoff time, the eat ( x ) meals per day, and the 'get your protein no more than 30 minutes after you work out' ones.
Let's not forget the, "women who do strength/ resistance training or any kind of lifting will turn into muscle-bound freaks of nature." Also, don't lock or completely straighten your joints at any point during lifting.
Another scary one: 'detox' or 'cleanse'. I automatically think of some poor soul cooped up in the bathroom with a bulk pack of toilet paper and a copy of War and Peace...0 -
You need to work off as much as you eat to lose weight.
Ex. Eat 1200 calories - work off those 1200 calories. Um no.0 -
Starvation mode.0
-
You HAVE to eat more than 1200 cals/day.0
-
That water has magical, weight-loss properties and all kinds of amazing health benefits.0
-
No, fruits are good calories, candy is bad calories. Your body processes the calories in fruit differently. You can eat as much a you want.0
-
"A detoxing cleanse is a great way to kickstart your weight loss"
Basically if anyone uses the words "detox", "cleanse", or "kickstart" I stop listening. And if anyone uses the word "sabotage" I just start singing Beastie Boys in my head.0
