35 oz steak for dinner (potatoes & pint of ice cream too)

Tonight, inspired by the "steak lady", I ordered the biggest steak I could get near by. A 35 oz top sirloin. I received a tee shirt for finishing it alone. I'm certain I could have done a second one ( fairly certain). Started with a large dinner salad, then the steak & a couple hundred grams of pan fried potatoes. Followed by a pint of Blue Bunny Chocolate Champion ice cream.

All within my calorie goals ( for cutting). As well as meeting micro & macro nutrient needs/goals. The moral of the story is, once again, you can eat whatever you want. You just need to fit the choices within your goals. I only stopped because I met my calorie goal, not because I was full.

I realized I needed more perspective. This is a standard size piece of garlic bread.

I wasn't happy with that perspective so this is a ritz cracker, which doesn't vary in size (much)

Well done! I can smell it from here, making me very hungry. I do have to laugh at that tiny little kale leaf sitting on the plate though.

Well done! I need to bookmark this page for future reference. This is a great example of how to eat foods you love without changing your calorie/macro targets.

Nice job magerum. How was the quality and taste? Sometimes restaurants throw the lower quality at those promotions. I could easily do that with a AAA ribeye.

It was a decent cut of beef. Oak fire grilled amd seasoned nicely...a touch salty. Nothing to rave about quality wise, but no complaints. I would eat it again. Maybe a little better than your average Outback etc...

Well, you got me on the pint of ice cream.......I'm getting too old to eat that much in one sitting......well maybe an hour later.

no fair!!!! You can't post pics like those and not share the meal.

Where are the MFP police when you need them.

    Great post.

(steak looks properly done as well. Nice work)

    A 35 oz top sirloin.
    ~1900 calories
Started with a large dinner salad
    ~100 calories, assuming no dressing.
a couple hundred grams of pan fried potatoes.
    ~250 calories
Followed by a pint of Blue Bunny Chocolate Champion ice cream.
    1 pint -> 2 cups -> 520 calories
All within my calorie goals ( for cutting)...
Cutting at ~2800 calories/day? (Serious question)

Fair question. 3000 per day actually. Nets me an average (over course of cut) of a pound a week.

Looks like you went over your cutting calories by 330. Is your deficit set at 500 (1lb/week)? otherwise it did not fit your cals.

I could NOT eat that much food in a sitting. Not even close. Maybe not even over the course of a full day.

Is what you listed what you ate for the whole day? Not being a smarta**... just curious. Some people do like to save their calories. Just wondering if that's what you did.

I feel vaguely queasy just considering eating that much food. Then again, I'm probably much smaller than you! But I envy the ice cream.

I don't manually set my cals in MFP. I find it amusing how far off it is from real life results. In fact I have MFP set to maintenance. It perfectly fit my calories. 3000/day leads to ~1 lb per week loss. Maintenance is between 3500-3750+

Yeah, but I wonder if you're a weightlifting hamster some days...(he puts in a lot of work in other words).

Shouldn't it be "The moral of the story is, once again, you can eat whatever you want. As long as the choices fit within your goals."?

Or perhaps "The moral of the story is you can eat whatever foods you want. You just may not be able eat the amounts you want."
I only stopped because I met my calorie goal, not because I was full.
This doesn't sound good to me. What if what I want to eat is food that will make me full?
