    Theres a difference between a healthy Dominant sexual relationship and an Abusive relationship. If it gets your rocks off though, go for it. lol

    I think the only thing that irritates me more about this series is the fact that it portrays people interested in bondage as damaged :noway:

    The 'spotlight' series is very good at portraying a more healthy sub/dom relationship, and I highly recommend it for anyone interested :bigsmile:

    Also, 'The girlflesh institute' is a very good read :happy:

    It's by J.S Taylor :smile: it's a series of 4 books, with the first one being 'close up and personnal'. I think it's actually on sale on amazon at the moment aswell :laugh:

    Also, a side note, the 'girlflesh' series is a representation of MUCH harder bondage than fifty shades :laugh: just in case somebody decides to give it a read... :bigsmile:

    I liked it but I think the Crossfire serie by Sylvia Day is much much better.

    Agreed. But the last Crossfire book was maddening! Hated it but of course, I'll hang out for the 4th to come out, LOL!!

    Nothing redeemable about the books. Unfortunately, most erotica makes me roll my eyes and snort. This wasn't even erotica, it was just crappy writing.

    It certainly wasn't meant to be critically acclaimed so enjoy it for what it was...

    I read it and loved it and plan to see the movie. I didn't read it so I could get my red pen out and start marking it up for grammar and spelling errors. I read it because I wanted to read it and love reading, period. Maybe that makes me shallow? I don't really care that it does. I will say, it is definitely not the best erotic novel out there. Not even close, but it was very interesting. And I can tell you this, the hubby had no complaints with me reading it.

    While I totally admit to enjoying the read...I did get tired of the smutty scenes...I got tired of her orgasming every time just because he said he name...yeah right. So while I enjoyed it, in general, and I have read it twice, I don't know how much the writer really knew about s e x. :laugh:

    It is sad. There are a lot of poorly written books out there which take off. Twilight is terribly written, but the story was good enough to entertain millions and make the author rich. Dean Koontz isn't exactly the best writer out there, but he's making millions. For every Stephen King and Maggie Steifvater out there, there are a bunch of writers who don't write well but can tell a story well enough to sell a book.

    I tried reading it. I got through the first book and half of the second. Not my bag. I'm all for kink, but it was pretty vanilla imo.But I'm 26 and have spent A LOT of time on the internet :tongue: Plus, as other people have mentioned, it was originally Twilight fanfiction made over with a search and replace of character names.

    But hey, if you like it you like it. To each his/her own. Just don't be disappointed when it doesn't win the Nobel prize for literature.

    ETA: If I could make millions writing a smut book you bet your *kitten* I would do it. I'm all about the benjamins over here.

    I love the books, but I think the movies will suck. I think there is too much sex in the 1st book, to really make a good movie without it almost being a porno.

    I was not a fan. I did read all three, and while the writing was quite poor, that's not my biggest problem. As someone who writes erotica and has participated in the BSDM lifestyle, I didn't think it was very accurate. The bedroom scenes were similar (or maybe that was actually the writing) and the relationship was unrealistic. It actually seemed more like an abusive relationship than that of a true Dom/sub.

    As someone who has participated in that lifestyle, it annoys me that everyone who has read the book is now an expert kinkster. :noway:

    Many of my friends do not know about that side of me. But having to listen to them go on and on about the book and how they love kink now just pissed me off, especially because they are all vanilla as they come.
