February Running Challange

Hi everyone. This is a continuation from the Jnuary Running Challange.

Anyone can join in. New & Old. Here the details from last month that applies here again.
Anybody want to join me for a running challenge? Set a goal here and mark it every day here. You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com
You can run, walk, or do treadmill. Just be consistent. I am setting a goal for 130 miles. Don't let that worry you. Some can do 25, 50; whatever you like. We can help motivate each other. What do you say? if you are new to running, set a low goal.
You can set your goal now but wait till February 1 to log your runs.
Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account http://www.tickerfactory.com and create your ticker.
Then you need to update it after you do a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.
If you go into your ticker page, I think the link is:
http://www.tickerfactory.com/ezticker/ticker_designer.php?type=8 << may be slightly different
Then you go to your settings page. Make sure you type your pin in that you set when you created your ticker account.
Then where it says "Your current cumlative value, there is an add button. Just add what you just did and the cumlative value automatically changes. Then hit next.
Now after you added your new miles (or km's) to your ticker you need to post it here.
After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting on how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:
It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png
To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the img tags around that link. So it will look, (removing the spaces in the img tags):
[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]
So it will look like this after you post:
Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker.
1: Use the link that ends in .png
2. Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
3. remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
4. YES, there is a / in the second /img tag

I am brand new to running.. doing a learn to run right now and will still be walk/running starting in Feb... but this will keep me going.. Thanks !!0

Looks like I will make my 50 mile goal for this month, so I will shoot for 55 next month. I should make it with a few to spare if I stick to my HM training plan.

Going to set a goal of 85 for the month since we have fewer days and I've got a half marathon taper in there. Also if I can run 85 or more every month I'll easily beat my goal of 1000 for 2014.0

Thanks Stoshew71 for keeping these monthly challenges going. There was a great group last month that stuck with it through some real difficult weather. Hopefully February will bring better weather!

I'm in for 20 -- I'm 6 weeks postpartum and starting to train for a marathon relay this spring!!
On a side note, anyone have any suggestions for what to wear in the cold? It's been sub-zero here -- but this weekend it's going to be a balmy 30 degress I'm new to running outside and would love some ideas about how best to get out there!0 -

Welcome! I don't have experience in real cold weather (Florida girl) but this website is a good start for selecting clothing. http://www.runnersworld.com/what-to-wear
I've also heard to dress as if it were 20 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. Once you get running, that's the temp your body feels like it is.0 -
I'm in for a February challenge of 50 miles on foot... I'll complete the January challenge tomorrow, but 7.5 miles of that was on my bike, so 50oF will be a nice little increase in a shorter month.0

I'm in for 67 miles this month. Unfortunately failed miserably in January due to a horrible chest cold. Finally on the mend and marathon training starts Monday! Good luck everyone!!

I'm in for 40 miles (short month). Very new runner here. Going to buy first pair of running shoes today. Plan to walk/run half marathon the first week of May.0
