Sandwich Help!!

I love mayo. Love it, love it, love it. Especially on sandwiches. I'd rather eat sand than a dry sandwich. I have really tried to use the lowfat mayo because the calories in regular mayo are ridiculous, but I just can't do it. I can't stand the taste. Does anyone have any good alternatives to use on sandwiches so they aren't dry??

Do you like wasabi or horseradish? They are creamy with less fat/calories than mayo. Depends if you like hot things though.0

Laughing cow cheese or hummus!!!!0

I am used to dry sandwiches because I don't like condiments. But, I will sometimes use some italian dressing or hot sauce on my sandwiches. I get vinegar at subway, which would do on a homemade sandwich. I could see how a laughing cow cheese wedge would be might tasty, maybe even in place of the cheese as well.0

The mayo dressiing is a good alternative..its lower in calories..but its still high in fat. The only way to get away from the FAT from mayo is to just slooooowly stop using it Best of luck to ya!0

I use Miracle Whip. The regular kind still has less calories than regular mayo. I don't like the lite mayo, it has a weird sweet taste to it.0

avocado, pickle relish, mustard, hummus, juicy tomatoes are a few ideas to keep a sandwich "wet"

I have been using Greek Yogurt lately on wraps, and I don't know how well it would do on a sandwich, but I'm thinking it just might work. It's great mixed with mustard.0

I cant stand mayo! yuck0 -
Hummus! My favorite is roasted red pepper hummus... but they have many flavors0

I use 1/4 tbsp of Kraft mayo with olive oil reduced fat. I also put on 1/2 tbsp of sweet baby ray's signature dipping sauce and sandwich spread in between the pieces of meat. It's about 50 calories total of pure goodness! Perfect amount and the sandwich isn't dry tasting! You can't taste the mayo that much because it's such a small amount.0

YUM!!!! I love horseradish!!!0 -
FF Ranch Dressing, FF Catalina Dressing or try the Kraft Mayo with Olive Oil...it is a healthier version of mayo.0

This is my fav thing! I can't even tell there's no mayo and its really creamy!0 -
Laughing cow cheese or hummus!!!!
this!
I agree- laughing cow is a great sub for both cheese and mayo. I love them both but don't miss them in my sandwich when I use laughing cow. The light swiss is only 30 calories0 -
Mustard is an option. I personally find Miracle Whip offensive and should be banned.
But I'm also one of those that sees absolutely nothing wrong with mayo - it's eggs and olive or canola oil (depending on the brand you get). Not all fat is bad for you! I find it crazy how demonized it is.0 -
have you tried lite miracle whip? I also really enjoy spicy, deli mustard.0

Can you use the real stuff and just cut way back on the amount you use to 1/2 or 1/4 serving?
If you're a mustard fan....it's zero across the label with the exception of sodium! :bigsmile:0 -
I used to eat sandwiches with only mayonaisse. Now I've substituted Grey Poupon and love the flavor. I can't live without it now on my sandwiches.0

Laughing Cow Cheese is the best. They have different kinds also.....Great alternative I think.0

I love to do wrap sandwiches, I use flour tortillas or flatbread and spread hummus on it with tomatoes, red bell pepper, basil, onion and turkey, it is yummy. On regular sandwiches I use avocado, tomatoes , honey mustard and sometimes hummus. Just experiment and see what you like best0

I haven't tried it...but I hear that Dijonaise is really good...I know it's really low in calories.0

My first post.
I started thinning my salad dressing with vinegar, maybe you could do that with mayo and mustard??? Perhaps use 1 part mayo, two parts mustard. On my salads, I use 1 TBS French dressing and 2 TBS red wine vinegar which is about 70 calories. Sometimes I just use red wine vinegar by itsself.0 -
I just wanted to say your dalmation is cute - I have one too - I also agree with hummus, etc.0

I am the same dang way! dry sammies, suck.
i first switched to best foods brand's low fat version (has a green lid) - it tastes pretty good for a low fat version. not like the other yucky nonfat/lowfat mayos out there.
but then i read a tip about using avocado instead - and i tried it. i swear to Buddha, i can't tell the difference!
avocado FTW!0 -
I LOVE Best Foods Mayo with the olive oil. It is only 50 calories and 5g of fat for 1Tablespoon. It is totally worth it to me :bigsmile:0

I use Kraft miracle whip regular, it is lower in calories and a little sweeter but it does make the sandwich less dry and it's better than mayonaise. I compsensate for it because I use fat free salad dressing and rarely use butter or margerine.0

I recently tried an all natural ginger dressing on my wraps. It is soo very good and it is only 70 calories.0
