Cold Showers for Weight Loss

I just took my first one and OMG the cold shower was terrifying!!! But as you near the end your body starts to get used to the temperature. Doctors have said it increases weight loss and helps build muscle because the temperature increases your glucose intake. Pretty neat but not too bad. I think I'll take them for a month and see what happens.

That sounds horrible!0

Wow! You couldn't pay me to do that, even if it does help with weight loss! The more power to you for doing it!0

It's winter time. Take hot showers. If you want to play around with colder temps just hang around outside.
I think my body would tense up too much if I took cold showers ( I did when I was poor young boy ). Doesn't that sound a bit drastic though? Surely there are better ways to lose weight.0 -
cold showers are only good for one think and that is not weight loss0
-
seems like you could just drink ice cold water instead.0

Horrible & unnecessary. :ohwell:0

Are you for real? I just can't make any sense out of that. Weight loss does not have to be torture.0

I read the title of the thread and thought OMG what a lot of excrement!
Then I googled it and came up with this - http://www.livestrong.com/article/154168-how-to-lose-weight-with-cold-showers/
and this http://www.menshealth.co.uk/lose-weight/fast-tips/lose-your-gut-a-cold-shower-445680
and this http://www.joslin.org/diabetes-research/turning-up-the-heat-on-brown-fat.html
Interesting - but I'm doubtful as to whether many people would be prepared to take cold showers regularly - especially in the depths of winter.
Good luck with it though.0 -

When I read about it I think they said turning the water cold for 20 sec at the end was enough.0 -
Cold showers for weight loss totally work.
As long as they are taken after a full on work out and before a calorie controlled breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.0 -
I do cold showers for weight loss too, and really hot showers help lose water weight. Also read that doing super hot then super cold showers can help flush your body. Or you could just do the salt water flush!0

Super hot to super could would be more of a shock then a flush.. whatever that is.0 -
This sounds almost as dumb as walking outside without a jacket to shiver and burn more calories.0

I heard a cold cup of ice with water before bed helps burn calories more while u sleep but I usually don't so it since I hate waking up in the middle of the night for bathroom break0

Fact: There are zero calories in a cold shower
Also Fact: There are a lot of calories in the hot chocolate with marshmallows I would need to recover from said shower.0 -
