I still see a fat boy in the mirror...

Don't judge me. You see that I have a few muscles, don't call me conceited or tell me that I KNOW I'm hot. You don't know that I still carry this fat boy mentality or that I still struggle with accepting thew new image in the mirror.
In all honesty, I hope I always carry these feelings of a bit of insecurity combined with a new found self-confidence in my appearance. So when you come onto this website and judge all these hot, conceited people....stop and think that they're just enjoying their new found sense of love for self. For some of us, it's the first time we've ever felt it.

So do I, but that is because I am looking at an angle and the guy next to me is HUGE.0

This is not chit-chat, fun or games. This is a cold sate into our own mortality. Thank you for making us all take a look inwards and see our own insecurities.0

No matter my size, I will always see fat girl in the mirror!
You can always cry on my shoulder. (OK, now it's chit-chat, fun and games)0 -
#MFPConfessions.... sometimes I suck in during duckfaced selfies0

QFT. I know these feels.0 -
Or you could be like me, and ruin all your progress and have to continually restart your journey every year, trolling with old phtoos.... wait...0

I know the feeling, but I suppose I am the opposite. I have always been thin and I thought once I hit 150 that I would be happy. Not even close and I am beginning to wonder when is it going to stop. I figure as long as I am gaining muscle the healthy way, it isn't that bad.0

That's why I said that I ALWAYS carry a bit of insecurity mixed with self confidence. Enough self confidence to continue to improve, and enough insecurity to always let me want more.0 -

Hey! I resemble that remark!
One night I got so...mentally altered...that I got stuck staring in the mirror because I thought I was in the wrong body.
The fat kid inside me isn't going anywhere. I lose 5lbs, he eats a whole pizza. Do a Spartan race, skip the gym for a month...
My biggest problem is that I still carry my old fat boy tendencies. While eating a huge plate of whatever cheat meal, I'm sitting there eating and thinking about the second serving I'm about to devour instead of taking my time to enjoy the delicious greasiness.0 -

Well done OP :flowerforyou:0 -
Sometimes I'm afraid I'll always see myself as the before picture.0

When I go shopping, I still try on clothes that are too big for me now because there's no way I can wear a size 12.0

THIS. I feel ya, dawg. I hit the gym as hard as I can, eat like a buff rabbit, and dress for success every day, but the fat girl in me will always be there as a little reminder of what life was like. Sometimes I worry that I won't ever be able to lose the fat girl brain, but then I realize how far I've come and take comfort in the fact that I do see myself a little clearer, every day.
You're doing great! xoxo0 -

Humility is key. Confidence without cockiness. What's the point in looking better if you just get uglier on the inside?0 -

I always feel awkward and out of place no matter how much I weigh.0

I'll always be fat (mentally)........so what
The fact is that ex overweight people that are now "fit" and "healthy" that still carry that fat boy mentality will solicit no sympathy from anyone around that listens to you complaining about how fat you're going to get if you eat a slice of pizza or that you haven't worked out in 3 whole days, etc. They automatically label you as conceited or whatever word you wish to use.
Note: Not that we're looking for sympathy, we're just reasoning or thinking out loud most of time.0 -
I always feel this way, too. My husband told me that mirrors above the bed don't make you feel this way so the installer is on the way to put them up now! YAH!
Just a little tip for those that are feeling this way. You're welcome.0 -
Hey boy ya look mighty fine in them jeans...mmmhmm.0

Awww, just the tip? I expected more from you. *0 -
I'm the same- no matter where I'm at with my weight loss I always think I'm still my before pic.
Even on days I know I look good, it's "not bad for a fat chick".
Not sure when my brain will catch up, maybe it just needs time?0 -

It's so hard...being me, ya know? Some people see glasses half full, some half empty, I see a glass that needs more foreplay.0 -
Wow this is a great post. I too have had a few jokes made my way about seeming "into myself" but its not that at all. Like you said, its just nice to, for the first time in a long time feel proud about my appearance and see where I am headed with it and my health.0

Very insightful post. Beauty/aesthetic appeal is as much a state of mind as it physical. However I think a little insecurity mixed with confidence keeps people humble and relatable. Either that or it makes them completely obnoxious.0
