Two pairs of stretch bands, they got me serious about doing a regular routine even though I was grossly out of shape. I couldn't do what I am doing with the stretch bands, but they got me in a routine.

Olympic bar. (I've got a DIY power cage with spare wood I had, so only purchase there was a box of screws.)

I'm still missing my motoactv and might get another - nothing seems quite so comprehensive for measuring cardio activity.
  • New clothes to motivate me to work out more so I can eventually wear them and feel confident in them
  • A good sports bra..It's an expensive purchase but worth EVERY penny.

Yaktrax! The ground here is covered with ice and snow from November to April, and I can't afford a gym membership or decent treadmill, so this was the best option. Plus when you're running on the ice without slipping you feel invincible!

a couple of weeks ago I listed all my purchases since starting mfp:

the biggest is the iphone with the mfp app but that just made me stick to logging since I discovered mfp and iphone within 2 days
    of each other
    isport ear buds
    digital bathroom scale
    digital kitchen scale
heart rate monitor ( polar ft4)
    george foreman grill
    air pop pop corn popper
    olive oil spritzer
    mandolin
Oh, and a gym membership. (la fitness by default-the gym I joined closed and they shipped me here.)
and on that note, I've got a season pass to a kayak rental place and
    new bicycle plus
    various hoodies....
    they've all helped!

    1. My heart rate monitor. It tells me when I'm slacking off, and the calorie burn is a great motivator.
    2. My iPod. How did I ever exercise without it? I can keep my fluency in French and German, learn new stuff, and then switch over to great music.
    3. Latest purchase- my TRX. I've been working through some minor neck and shoulder strain complaints that come from 40+ years of desk work and I've found some stretches and other exercises that are really helping. Great for planking, too.
  • Signing up at an all female gym!

I bought the Weight Watchers ActiveLink, which measures your typical activity based on an assessment period and then challenges you to meet a small goal every day. The goals get harder as the days go on!
