Banana peels make me gag. True story.
The pureed pumpkin and applesauce sound like good alternatives.
I'm pretty sure that you're not supposed to eat the peels
Actually, if you are eating fruit for it's nutritional value, you should eat the peels too. In many fruits, including bananas, most of the nutrients and vitamins are in the peel.0 -
one cup to one cup.
When the recipe calls for "1 mashed banana" though, how much is a banana, in cups? I know it depends on the size of the banana, but basically how many cups does one mashed banana yield?0 -
I'm sorry, but it'll never work between us. I need to see other banana-tolerant people.
BUT... BUT... BUT... It's just a little banana allergy!
Plus the rest of my laundry list of allergies...
Are you able to at least play Mario Kart?0 -

I can with an actual controller, none of that Wii steering wheel business for me.0 -

Now that I think about it, I don't know if I can fit a banana into my day either0 -
How about plantains? I'd expect that a ripe plantain (not a green one -- those act more like potatoes) would be pretty close to 1:1 with banana.0

Love bananas but they don't love me. There isn't enough Nexium on the planet to deal with the onslaught of acid reflux. Soooo unfair! I bet a purée of yellow squash or zucchini would also work since they taste great in sweet breads. I find pumpkin heavy tasting. I would chop it , nuke it and purée it. Should make a nice slick mush like banana.0

but its the banana that makes her character large instead of the mushroom.0 -
I use a half cup of canned pumpkin per banana called for in the recipe.
I also use applesauce!
Baked sweet potato works too if you have one to use. Depending on the time of the year, either canned pumpkin or sweet potato may be less expensive.0 -
Approximately 1/3 cup per medium banana according to this converter:

Funny, I don't put bananas in anything except banana bread.
You can substitute bananas with one of the following:
Sugar and butter creamed together, apple sauce, baby food such as prunes, mashed carrots or sweet potatoes. You can play around with different ingredients and see what you like best. Different substitutions will work differently depending on the recipe. If you're trying to avoid butter and sugar in baked goods then you could read "normal" recipes and replace the butter and some of the sugar with apple sauce.0 -
I have a phobia of bananas.....no one understands and I am an outcast in society.0

I'm pretty sure I'm going ok without choking down banana peels, but tyvm for your concern0 -
Bananas usually function as a binding agent so you can replace with any other gloopy/starchy stuff that goes thicker when cooked: mashed sweet potato or potato, pumpkin puree, crushed pineapple, ground linseed or chia mixed with water, eggs, um....I guess it depends on the recipe and what sort of flavour you're looking for. Experimentation is the best way to find out. Then you get to sample lots of yummy "mistakes" along the way!0

You rock!! I don't know why I couldn't find anything like this on my own searches, but thank you very much!0 -
In, because I hate bananas :b all those "cookies that are good for you" and flour-less pancakes are lost on me! Had not thought of pumkin puree, will have to check the store0

I've heard applesauce can be substituted.0
