Right now I'm using Dymatize Elite 7 rich chocolate shake and it is delicious. I only mix it with water so I'm sure if you were going to add milk or anything it would be even better.0

We've bought Syntrax, Nectar: Chocolate Truffle or Strawberry Kiwi. We use it in our morning smoothies/shakes and add spinach and other great yummy healthy items. We buy ours at the VitaminShoppe. We use unsweetened Almond Milk or Water. The chocolate with water tastes like chocolate milk, but not overly sweet. We add PB2 and Banana for a real treat.0

My roundup
ON Double chocolate and Extreme chocolate are... okay. You'll be sick of them before the tubs are empty. Mixes well in water, milk, and almond milk.
Dymatize Elite Fudge Brownie is godly. Mixed with everything, but tends to be thicker than any of the others.
Wheytech Protech 24 banana & chocolate are both kind of weak flavors and suitable prety much for blending. The banana is great with orange juice, yogurts, and puddings.
Body Fortress vanilla - the worst of the lot. It has a gritty texture that'll never go away no matter what you do with it. Very obvious artifical flavor.0 -
Smartpowders/Scivation has been my go-to for a long time. It's about 2$/lb cheaper than most non-junk brands when comparing the 5lb sizes. It tastes good, mixes fine, and the company put out lab tests proving it has the correct amount of protein listed.
ON is incredibly high quality, but honestly just too pricey for me.
God bless you if you can handle Body Fortress. I can't stand the flavor of it. I don't like that it mixes in Creatine. I want to be the one who doses my creatine so I know exactly how much I'm getting in each drink.0 -
I think the only kind I've had before was the Body Fortress - YUCK!0
-
I mainly use NOW foods unflavored pea protein. It has a slightly nutty flavor, but I love it in my smoothies!0

Optimum Nutrition and BSN's Syntha-6 mix really well. They also offer a wide variety of flavors. I used Optimum Nutrition for a long time but switched to BSN because Optimum does not show potassium content.
You may want to compare prices of your local stores to bodybuilding.com or nutritionexpress.com. You may be able to order sample packets from these sites to find one you like.0 -
I used to be a big fan of Vega Choc-a-lot but ordered Shakeology to give a try and now I'm hooked. The chocolate shakeology is amazing, I want to try the other flavours, but that with pb and banana with almond milk tastes like a milkshake.0

Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey
Right now is leading protein powder,
How does one rate a protein powder ?
- Mix-ability
- Flavor
- Nutritional Profile
As for flavors hands down the best is "extreme milk chocolate " and going in a close second is mocha
Most supplements are BS but if you are going to spend money DONT SKIM ON WHEY PROTEIN
Pretty much this and everyone else who said ON. They have awesome flavours!0 -
I like the Body Fortress (chocolate as well as chocolate with peanut butter). I mix it with water and it mixes good.
It's whey protein (soy protein gives me body rashes), each scoop has 130 cals and 3 grams of carbs.
It tastes good too.... and chocolate twice a day, you can't beat that.0 -
Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard All Natural Whey.....love the chocolate, vanilla is also good :-)0

Use isolates if you are just taking protein post-workout. Most proteins nowadays are combination proteins (egg, milk, whey isolate/concentrate), and they rock.
Whoever suggested Visalus is hilarious. Visalus is the most overpriced junk you could buy. Why do they not sell it in supplement stores? It wouldn't sell when it is next to a protein that has 20 more servings, tastes better, has a better amino acid profile, better protein sources, and about 18g more protein per serving....oh, and costs less. Shakeology is junk too.0 -

Yes, something like Body fortress or Six Starr ranks pretty low in all of those categories.
I've tried many protein powders, and they all taste awful to me, but some less awful than others. I don't concern myself with hydrolyzed whey protein isolates; Optimum Nutrition has the best protein powders for the price. I assume some people who want their carbs low or who are lactose intolerant to want a whey protein isolate to reduce lactose.
"ISO-100 uses only whey proteins derived from cross-flow microfiltration processing (cold-filtered) to preserve the many important whey protein fractions including lactoferrin and immunoglobins, which can be lost in other forms of processing."
According to Will Brinks, protein powders that use microfiltration processing (cold-filtered) are the best.0 -
If you have a taste for coconut, I am enjoying ON's Choc-Coconut and often mixing it with Silk Almond - Coconut milk (and other times just plain water). The Silk is just for added Cocount flavor - nothing against regular milk, etc. I have a taste for coconut, obviously0

These two brands are hella expensive is South Africa due to shipment and our bad exchange rate....pay like R2000 ($200) for a months supply....**** that0 -
Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey extreme milk chocolate. I mix with water and it's like chocolate milk, mixes well, and tastes good. I mixed it with milk today for the first time and it was overly rich and sweet. I'll stick with water mix.0

Today I had orange creamsicle by v-core vantage. It was incredible! So much better then the usual chocolate or vanilla. With just water it was just as tasty as the real deal. I bet milk would make it even better. Really very good. If you dislike protein shakes this is a good bet. Also, complete nutrition is giving away samples for free...
And!
Just as many grams of protein as any good powder (25g per scoop).0 -
ON GOLD WHEY is the best but expensive as hell for me. Go for it if you can afford it, if not search online like me for a deal for MUTANT WHEY, I got a great deal for a 10lbs bag. A GREAT ONE!0
