Once again risking my man-card, I thought I would put this topic up for us guys. What products do you use. What works. Suggestions.
I realized that I don't look my age because I have very few wrinkles and I intend to keep it that way. Also, at age 40, I still have to deal with ^*&(%%$$&!! acne.

So here is what I use.
Face wash - Aveno foaming wash that controls oil
Astringent - Neutragena OIl Control
Moisturizer - L' Oreal Vita Lift
Eye - Lab Series Age Eye Rescue
Shaving Cream - Every Day Jack Shaving Cream
Razor - Sensor Excel
Body Wash - Axe Sensitive Skin Shower Gel
Cologne - Diesel Only The Brave

LOL...the Diesel cologne comes in the bottle shaped like a fist. I'd use it for the cool factor alone.

Wow, you're making me feel like I'm not using enough. I am getting a body groom for Christmas though because shaving with a razor is just annoying and time consuming.
I use Aveeno Mosturising Body Wash - Fragrance Free
I think Nivea deep cleaning face wash (I hate you for making me get up to make sure)
Gillette Pure and Sensitive shave gel
Mach III Turbo. Highly touted online by many men as being the best razor.

For a while I was using a pre-shave face wash, shave gel, and post shave balm by a brand called NXT. It was kind of giimicky because all the products are clear and come in a blue transparent bottle with a small battery in the bottom so, you guessed it... they lit up and flashed blue. I really liked the products but I can't seem to find them anymore.

So now I've moved on to:

    Colgate toothpaste
    Barbasol shave cream
    Mach 3 razor
    Nivea after shave balm
    Axe Twist deodorant
    Axe Rise shower gel
    Axe Intense shampoo
Axe Whatever messy look hair paste
    Curve Crush cologne

My husband has a pretty serious regiment because he also struggles with acne. Currently he's on a treatment but the way he battled it with over the counter stuff is as follows:

Face wash - Neutrogena cream cleanser / senstive skin
Astringent - Something to minimize pours - clean & clear
Moisturizer - Curel for sensitive skin, and if he needs some extra moisture, he uses my ponds face cream.
    Eye - hahahahhahahha. Sorry. hahahahahahahahahahaha.
Shaving Cream - Gillette or w/e. When he actually shaves.
    Razor - Gillete
Body Wash - Usually some 3 in one thing from w/e is on sale.
Cologne - nothing, just his deodorant.
  • Just a thought about acne in a 40 year old man. I had acne as a teenager and it returned when I was in my mid to late 30's and early 40's. I went to a dermatologist who basically said that 40 year old men don't get acne. He diagnosed me with Acne Rosacea and put me on a metronidazole cream which took the problem away in a couple of weeks. Something to consider...

That's interesting. I used to have a real problem until I starting using an astringent and washing my face in the AM and before bed. I used to get red bumps on my neck after shaving that washing cleared that up also.

Hey! I know this is "men's grooming" and I have no place here, but that has never stopped me before

I had severe acne my entire life, to the point where even serious medication prescribed by my dermatologist had virtually no effect. I tried proactive and it gave me the WORST first degree burn imaginable (ended up in the ER). In a last ditch effort I was told about acne.org and honestly, a total life saver. I wish I could express how incredible this system is. And you do NOT need to buy their products (I do, because it's easier, but you can find everything at the local drugstore/Walgreens/Zellers/etc)

Cleanser - Clean and Clear for Sensitive skin
    Treatment - 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide
Moisturizer - Olay w/ SPF 15, (NO avobenzone!! Check your moisturizer for avobenzone/oxybenzone, this could be the cause of your breakouts)
    Eye - Nothing
Shaving Cream - Use your cleanser if you can, or use a non-comedogenic cream
Razor - Twin razor blades for closeness and minimum irritation (Gillette Sensor Excel recommended)
Body Wash - If you have body acne, use your cleanser. Or try Head and Shoulders Shampoo - It contains zinc which can minimize your outbreaks
Cologne - Whatever makes you smell sexy

I am NOT an advertisement or being paid by acne.org but I do really recommend their regimen. It's all about minimal irritation, being consistent, and having patience. It took about 2 full months for my acne to clear up but it was worth every day. I have been on it for over a year now and I have no acne at all. I would be happy to send you pics from before and after to show you my success. It's really been a complete life saver.

Here's a detailed link on the plan and what you need: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html

    Good luck! :flowerforyou:

OH And invest in some jojoba oil - Should be able to get this at a high end grocery store, pharmacy or health store. It's a great moisturizer; use it on your lips, face, hair, basically anywhere, and it won't clog pores. I add it to moisturizer in the winter and it works wonders. It's also a fabulous make-up remover (yea, not really your thing, I know...)! It's a great substitute for shaving oil, as well.

    Just a tip
