      Most people who think they are alphas are not. And most people who are alphas are not consciously aware of it and wouldn't call themselves that, in fact most probably haven't heard of the term.

      And no-one is an alpha in every social group, but every social group has an alpha.

      But I agree...the number one thing that a real man never does is hit a woman. I don't even get it. I've been married for 21 years and my wife and I have had some HOF arguments but it has never occurred to me that I should just smack her so she will see things my way.

      i don't yell. she doesn't yell. shouting each other down isn't productive.

      i don't curse at her (i might curse as part of my vernacular) and she doesn't curse at me. in my opinion, cursing at someone is an attempt to belittle or knock them down a peg, and that's not how i want to get my point across.

      these are not ground rules. this is just what happens.
