Gotta love the whole fantasy lifestyle and the love story and drama that comes with star wars. And for those who don't know, star wars is a much bigger story than the movies you see. Judging star wars by the six movies made is honestly like judging the entire human existance from a series of movies about Hitler. It just doesn't work like that.0

Yes there are extensive books for both series... (even though Lucas decided to through half of the plot lines out when he made the prequels :grumble: )0 -
Firefly.
Deal with it.

except that 4 of the 6 movies were utter codswallop. so you can make that judgement.
forget the clone wars stuff. just focusing on the original 3 movies and then the 3 prequels, star wars went downhill really fast after han solo was frozen in carbonite.0 -
I was raised with Star Trek playing every evening at my home and religiously watched it with my dad. I was a "Next generation" kid.
So, Star Trek it is. Love ya dad! :drinker:
Also, my friends called me"Commander Val" because I had this silver jacket that I wore all the time and they said I looked like I was just walking ou the the Enterprise lol! gotta find a picture of me wearing it...0 -
Firefly.
Deal with it.

My honest opinion...
I was raised on Star Trek, from Kirk to Picard to Janeway to Sisko, (lost interest with Bakula's Enterprise). I saw the original Star Wars movies as a child, and they had their merits, but I still preferred Star Trek. Now, the Star Trek movies weren't all that to write home about either.
In recent years, I thoroughly enjoyed Star Wars episodes 1, 2, & 3. No complaints with them at all.
Then there is Abrams, and while I can appreciate his movies as quality sci-fi/action films, I sob internally for the utter butchering of the Roddenberry storyline!0 -
Of course this is all irrelevant because.... George R.R. Martin.

Anybody see the Space Ghost C2C episode with Shatner? He was able to find common ground between the Trek and Wars franchises:
==========================================
William Shatner: There was a, there's a great deal of similarity between Star Wars and Star Trek, I've gotta admit.
Moltar: Like what?
William Shatner: Space.

To the Borg vs Death Star question - the Star Wars technical writers rigged this game. The ships in the Galaxy far far away operate at a power level far beyond anything the Federation sees, even the Borg. Could the Borg swarm the Death Star, Zerg style, with enough ships to ultimately find the exhaust port weakness before each cube was 1-shot? That would be their only hope.0 -
Both are great but the winner is actually: Babylon 5
then:
Firefly
Star Trek
Star Wars

I haven't watched that since I was a wee little one. Maybe I'll pull the DVDs out for the weekend.
You know what I really miss?

Star Wars ..all the way!0

Love them both but there are so many more episodes, movies, series, etc. of Star Trek. There are only 6 Star Wars. So, love them both but Star Trek in the end.0

I got on here to ask how this was even a question, but after reading the thread...well...let's just say it's separated out my natural peeps from those of questionable taste! Star Wars is nice and all, but Star Trek is just pure awesome.0
-
that's a dark path to go down on.. that question should never be asked. Many wars start.0
