To Cleanse or NOT to Cleanse - that is the question.

Lots of negative replies, and for 21 days I totally agree. You'd be shaking like a leaf and weak as a baby. And unable to do any exercise. What's the point in that!!? Couple of days on 75/25 veg/fruit juice when relaxing, 2 or 3 times a year has always made me feel revitalised though. And helps if going through a binge stage. Have a read of the book Fit For Life by H Diamond.0

Cravings does not equal addiction. That word is thrown out way too much.
And add me to the "no" votes on the need to cleanse!0 -
Well good thing this is a program where you eat three meals a day. I cannot go without food, nor would i want to. But it does require that you not eat boxed or packaged products. Good ol produce and meats.
You can do this without paying for a "program". It's called the produce, dairy and meat departments.0 -

Call it a detox or a cleanse - have you done it and what do you think. Complete food addict hoping to kick some cravings to the curb with a 21 day reset program. Thoughts?
Use this to cleanse properly.

What's needed??
Think about it first....
Then stop and say no!

Fixed it for you.

that should be your goal at all times, not just during a "cleanse"0 -

If you struggle with food, just log what you eat, set your calories to maintenance level, and start there.
You will keep making improvements over time, in your habits, exercise capacities, sleep habits, life habits, etc etc etc.0 -
I was thinking about it...:drinker: :drinker:0

I shower every day. It hasn't had any affect on my cravings though. Maybe I need a new brand of soap.0

At best, unnecessary. At worst, physically and mentally unhealthy.
I can see there being a place for short-term fasting for spiritual/religious reasons (not talking about intermittent fasting), but using cleansing or "detoxing" to deal with an unhealthy relationship with food is more likely to make it worse imo.
As boring as it sounds, it's much more productive to learn to eat the foods you enjoy in appropriate portion sizes. To eat in moderation. To practise self control around the foods that you tend to want to over-eat. There's nothing wrong with cutting down on certain foods or making changes to your diet, but if you make those changes gradually, you're more likely to stick to them long-term.0 -
What are you cleansing, your inability to not eat junk? More calories than you need? What?0
-
Nope and I never, ever will. I like food too much and if I can lose weight by eating food (and I have) then I choose that option.0

Personally, I think they're complete nonsense. But there are people who claim to derive benefit from them. I think it's more psychological than anything else- "cleansing" and "purifying" and having a fresh start MENTALLY, not physically. Rituals can be powerful things. But don't fool yourself into thinking it's more than that.
Man, you nailed it. But I suppose there is the placebo effect.0 -

Totally unnecessary. If you really want a cleanse, schedule a colonoscopy ... It is medically supervised and will actually accomplish something productive.0
-
You're better off starting the longer but more successful journey of moderation and self discipline.
Boring, doesn't sell any books but it works.
You'll still get hungry sometimes, but there's a difference, it's not an addiction or craving.
In fact that's probably what you're feeling now, but it's uncomfortable.
A cleanse isn't going to get rid of hunger or teach you to eat at maintenance unfortunately.0 -
You shouldn't ask about this on here. Most people have not done them and do not know what they are talking about. Also it really depends on your goals and are you really ready to deal with detox symptoms? And will you have the time to rest to give your body a chance to heal? You do not have to buy things except maybe a juicer and veggies.0

In.
Also, also, not to cleanse.
Also, also, also, use the search option. You might be surprised. We won't be.
This!!! Your body cleanse its self while you are sleeping so I dont think you need this!0 -

Why?
maybe i misunderstood what the OP meant by boxed or packaged. my mind went to "processed and prepared" which should be avoided.0 -
