I must be a self-hating racist because I'm European yet don't really like white chocolate all that much. I like it dark. The darker the better!

I eat 70% or above. They have considerably less sugar.

You have to get to 85% before you get the antioxidants people associate with dark chocolate. I don't know what the definition is of "clean eating" but if I was obsessively on that, I'd stick to 85%.

Obviously you need to always read the package carefully. I have read that the EU and the US Food Adm. only require a cocoa amount of 30% (!!) to qualify for putting "dark chocolate" on the cover.

my biology teacher says that dark chocolate would worsen your depression if you ate enough of it so he doesn't eat it and his diet is like 100% perfect. he's really strict.
however i think dark chocolate is fine.

I'm with you. If it's not healthy, it's a waste.

    Smug alert, smug alert.

Enjoy it in moderation and stop worrying about it. 100 calories a day of chocolate isn't going to hurt.

This is my favorite: Intense Dark 86% Cacao Midnight Reverie Bar

    it's so yummy

Dark chocolate is like a fine wine! My favourites: Habitual 100% cacao, Olivia 92% raw cocoa and pure maple syrup (organic), and Green & Blacks 85% cocoa (organic).

I only eat conflict free chocolate. The rest of you enjoy your blood chocolate. You're worse than Hitler.

Doesn't 4Chan come to your house and kick your *kitten* if you invoke Hitler on an Internet thread?

No, it's Godwin's Law .. ("As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1")

4 Chan are great guys. They send you pizzas.

The definition of "clean food" I am familiar with is "natural". So, unless the food exists in nature, it's not 100% clean.

But a food made from 100% natural ingredients could arguably be considered 'clean', in which case it would depend on the dark chocolate.

In my world, there are varying degrees of 'clean'.
So it's 0% clean, because chocolate is fermented.
    All of my wut.

How does that make it not clean? I thought "clean eaters" were all about sauerkraut/kombucha/kim chee? What the hell is the problem with fermentation?
Does it exist in nature? Dried, fermented beans?

I guess that means beer is clean?
    I see.

Yup, that's exactly how cocoa beans are fermented.

    Oh wait, no it's not.

So, answer the damned question: Is beer clean?

No one cares. At least no one who uses his/her brain cares . . .

My absolute favorite chocolate is unsweetened 100% cacao baking chocolate. Each person will have their own definition of what they consider clean, and for me that chocolate is.

Red wine is great with dark chocolate - it just takes the edge off the bitterness.
